Tithe or Pay Bills

Descendants of Jacob, I am the LORD All-Powerful, and I never change. That's why you haven't been wiped out, even though you have ignored and disobeyed my laws ever since the time of your ancestors. But if you return to me, I will return to you. And yet you ask, "How can we return?" You people are robbing me, your God. And, here you are, asking, "How are we robbing you?" I am the LORD All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing. -Malachi 3:6-10

So, this is one of the few scriptures Christians use as their justification for tithing? Just from this passage alone and all of chapter 3 of Malachi I understand why Christians are so boastfully dedicated and fearfully disciplined about giving their ten percent to the Lord. From reading the above, one could conclude that God is some bookie enforcing his standards of payment and how he expects payment to be presented. God the bookie? The Numbers Man, and for those of you reading from a small country town: The Ball Ticket Man?

Within this Holy Scripture, God appears to be some bully who forces His believers to give to Him and fear Him – but He will give to the believer if he/she does right by Him. Strange? Well, I am always asking, who is this God? It is evident the God in this text is willing to give back to you if you give to Him. Sort of like, one hand washing the other. However, according to Christianity the Christian should not expect anything in return for their good deeds and obedience. One should just do right by Him and give back to humanity while here on earth. The reward comes later. Right? Heaven is the final destination for most Christians. Wait, he/she has to be saved. Forgot about that! The Pearly Gates is where they are trying to arrive despite their every day activities: Living their Life.

Life is what we have to live no matter what the bible says. We have to get up each and every morning. Some of us wake-up elated and others dread the day before it starts. From my reading and conversations with so many people, getting up happy is not as popular as hating the pending day. High gas prices. Rising food prices and escalating water bills. Can you believe the Georgia state representatives asked and required its residents to conserve water due to a severe drought, and now we will experience an increase in our water bills because the water utility companies are reporting a low profit as a result of our compliance? After doing what was asked (like doing what God demands), we now will be punished and/or short-changed. This is only one example that relates to the American economic dilemma.

Even with the United States financial crisis that’s affecting the working and middle class, God still demands His ten percent payment. He is like the effective bookie or ball ticket pusher. They do not care if your funds are running low. If ya owe ya owe. PERIOD. And, if you are a strict adherent to the bible you will produce that ten percent when the tithing tray arrives at your pew regardless of your bill situation at home. You better! God did say in the Book of Malachi that He “challenges you to put Him to the test.” Indicating one should pay the 10% because He will prove to you that He will restore you with a blessing. Are we sure about that?

Let’s pretend with an analogy:

God is a bank and you are a committed, God-fearing, and obedient Christian who has been paying your tithes for over 40 years diligently. In this sense, your credit is good with God/the bank which means you have built a secure and sufficient level of credit with God/the bank. With this level of credit you can go to any bank/God, and get a loan/your prayers answered to help you during these rough economic times. One would think since you have been God’s dynamic and devoted steward you have an extensive line of credit/potential blessings. Not the credit of getting into heaven. No, something more tangible and/or practical. Something you need on earth on that day you wake-up wondering if you should pay for gas or breakfast. Isn’t this the time you should go to God like you always do, and ask for Him to make a way out of no way? You are bowing down on bending knee – but this prayer is not being answered. God, not the bank, has denied your loan. Your credit is not good enough even after you have been giving to Him so “there will be food in His house”. Didn’t He promise you He would “open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing”? Should not your blessing be money for a tank of gas? This is what you need as gas prices continue to climb and climb ($4.00 in Atlanta at the moment)? Aren’t we told that God gives us what we need, and not what we want?

Christians, if you are concerned about how your ends will meet I recommend you take your problems to your bookie/your God. Lay them on the altar as you are summons! He may be willing to front you some loot. He should considering you are a loyal tither. You deserve some credit. A handout. You did just give him your ten percent last Sunday and the Sunday before that.

Obama Criticism - He should not get a pass just because he is BLACK

Being a critic does not mean I do not support Obama. It simply means that I WILL treat him the same way I would another politician. With his "Change and Hope " speeches (getting old), Barack Obama is still a politician who has to pander and even lie to get elected. Just because he is black and I am black, does not mean I will become blind to that fact, or become an irrational member of this new church: Obama Full Gospel. With this, I would like to point out:

On May 22, 2008, Barack Obama decided to go to Boca Raton. He had a speaking engagement there. It was not surprising that he assured his audience he will be in their corner during his hopeful presidency. His audience: Jewish Americans. According to his aides and himself, he wanted to assure the American Jewish community that he will be 'their man', and that he will use every measure to protect Israel. All this protection for Israel - but none from cops who continue to bash in the heads of black men.

Now, I have a few questions. Has Barack singled out a black organization to go 'chat with'? Has he meet with the Congressional Black Caucus to discuss black America's issues? Didn't he refuse to attend the Tavis's function? I can't recall him going to the Urban League or even the NAACP to 'chat about our issues'. Seriously, I have not heard a thing. Perhaps, the one time I decided to forgo watching CNN and FOX a report of his presence was reported??

Barack is my boy because he is the best candidate of the three - but he is just like all the rest: A Politician. And, most politicians do not give a damn about our issues because our votes in the end will not secure he/she a victory.

How much longer will we be a fool for these politicians? I ain't gonna join the Barack Obama church like so many of us have. Getting all emotional and the Holy Spirit! I select to sit back, encourage my folk to register to vote and then vote, vote for him in the general election, and if he wins I will continue to do what a tax payer should do:

Make these Capitol Hill cronies do their job!

Are we, Americans, the Only People Receiving God’s Grace?

One could come to the conclusion that we are considering what our brothers and sisters around the world have to face each and every day. Senseless starvation. Horrifying tribal/ethnic violence. Unrelenting genocide. Unnecessary death and destruction from war. And, most recently catastrophic natural disasters. I am still trying to wrap my mind around: Over a 100,000 people being killed as a result of a cyclone (Myanmar). I just cannot get a grip on that one. A hundred thousand people is a small city. A town. Basically, this means if the cyclone would have struck land in Cambridge, MA back in the year 2000 all the residents would have been killed. Can you imagine that? I can’t! Also, the recent devastating earthquake in China that is expected to be the reason for more than 22,000 deaths is another reminder of the United States illusionary blessings.

God is Good in the minds of most Americans. We are told that He shields us from all types of harm – but wasn’t He unable to show His caring omnipresence down in the Gulf Coast a few years ago? Didn’t you expect Him to show-up at that depressing dome and un-Godly convention center? I did! Perhaps, I should not ask this question because He is always good and present according to Christians. Can’t you hear them: “God is Good. All the Time”. When I heard this the other day while at work I began to think about the earthquake video footage I saw of a Chinese little girl reaching for a soldier as he tried with all his strength to pull the girl from under layers and layers of broken cement. Her legs were trapped. She could only move her upper body – but the soldier abruptly had to halt the rescue effort because of aftershocks. Once - what some Christians say is the work of God, an earthquake, ceased no more could the precious girl be seen. She succumbed to the heavy rubble. Another person gone. Added to the 22,000 either dead or buried alive.

A good friend of mine who happens to be a devout Believer and Saint told me the other day (below) after I asked, “Why do Christians walk around saying, ‘God is Good’ as if He is only working on their behalf? I pressed more and asked, “I wonder if God is considered good to the people of Myanmar and China as we speak?”

Her response:

“First of all, China is a country that is well known for not believing in God and worshipping false idols. Christians that live in China have to go under ground in order to worship Christ. We wonder why things happen the way they happen. The false gods that they worship were where they were at during the time of this destruction. The God that I serve just allowed them to be taken over by the sin that they worship.”

Of course my theological radar went up! I was actually surprised that a “saved” person would basically say that God allowed for the natural disaster to occur because the Chinese are doing something that is supposedly against God: Worship of a False Idols. This also means that the point I made in my book was validated by this knowledgeable Christian. At least by this particular Christian’s belief system it was. I have always said and believed since I completed divinity school that God has been responsible and/or sanctioned death and destruction. Just read the uninspired man written bible from front to back, and you will discover His wrath. While I have said this time and time again – commentary after commentary (please don’t get bored w/ my beliefs) it is apparent that my understanding of the bible and God is in line with my Christian friend. Well, on this subject. Not much more! However, I hope she understands that what is
written in that bible has been in question for centuries. But, in her mind the bible is true. In my mind her belief is based on an inaccurate understanding of biblical scripture. If it is all true this means God slaughtered a group of First Born. Wow!

With this disagreement we still have an issue with theology: God’s punishment of the false idol worshiping Chinese is the reason the northwest area of the Sichuan province is under rubble. Seriously?

Rubble is what our minds have become if we honestly believe God favors the United States, and not other countries. We have bits and pieces of useless particles in our heads if we believe God is some maniac orchestrating and directing cyclones to strike land. This type of thinking causes several negative and misinformed thoughts/beliefs – but what it has done and continues to do is religiously elevate the United States as the Powerful Christian Nation while issuing condemnation to deeply spiritual places like Burma, Haiti, and other hard-hit countries.

North America’s ‘blessing of protection’ unfortunately encourages those Christians to believe:

Christianity is the only and righteous way.

That, my friend, is so ignorant.

Inspired my friend, the Christian. Here is what she told me when she had no where else to intellectually turn:

Whatever!!!!! Clearly, you are destined for HELL!!!!

Typical, but what should we expect from people who believe a man walked on water and rose after being killed? Jesus, the Whodini.

This blog is a reflection of what I deem to be true. It is an expression of my life in some regards. It is also a place where I am able to share black oriented truths and facts. Facts that are difficult to swallow. Time and time again, the truth about black Americans cannot be uttered by white Americans. Why? Even if they (white people) mention a true ‘positive’ about black people it is deemed disingenuous or patronizing. In my mind that is unfair; and we (black people) need to be able to face the truth about us even if it is negative no matter who tells it. I, a black man, have/will share with you the ‘goods’ of black America. I have on countless accounts – but I will also share the ‘bads’ that we in many cases inflict on ourselves. Like I have done with the commentary below. It was not written to blast black people. No, it is a truthful depiction of where we should not be as a group. Perhaps, we will read and move away from our self induced ignorance and neglect. Are ancestors are waiting so unlock the shackles!

12 Facts No One can say are Lies about Black Americans

Health

1- African Americans have a higher risk of death from heart disease and strokes than White Americans. African Americans have a 20% higher chance of dying from heart disease. (Attributed to poor diet, the refusal to go to the doctor/free health clinic, and inability to handle stress effectively)

2- AIDS is the leading cause of death for African American men between the ages of 25-44. Additionally, Black women are 18 times more likely to be diagnosed with HIV in 2003 than white women. (Attributed to poor decision making and a lack of respect for individual life and our women)

What if this is true:

http://www.isispages.com/artman2/publish/Sisters_Only_54/HIV_Infected_Man_Rants_on_Video_About_His_Escapades.php
Education

3- Many African Americans disregard or have contempt for education. Even well known personalities within the black race downplay the importance of obtaining an education. National Occurrence: Black kids tease other black kids who are doing well in school and say they are acting white. The affect of this is drastic. It encourages black kids to under achieve. (Attributed to lack of respect for the educational sacrifices made by our ancestors and a devaluation of education)

4 -Percentage of white tenth-graders in 2002 who attended high schools with security guards patrolling the hallways: 46.8%. Percentage of black tenth-graders in 2002 who attended high schools with security guards patrolling the hallways: 71.2% (Attributed to our tendency to handle our issues/disagreements with violence instead of meaningful dialogue – most of the disagreements are associated w/ “he disrespected me”)

5- Black women have decided to value education. They are in college at an alarming rate more than black men. (Attributed to the misguided ego of black men concerning education: ‘F*ck that. I ain’t going to no college.’)

Crime

6- During a 12 year study conducted by NCIA (National Center on Institutions and Alternatives) the following was examined/discovered (1985 to 1997), the U.S. prisoner population more than doubled from 502,376 to 1,240,962. Nationally, non-whites accounted for 70 percent of this growth in state and federal prisons. This study was a landmark study because it started the national debate: Whites receive lighter sentences than non-whites. However, the fact remains that blacks are the ones committing more crimes thus the reason they are caught up in the judicial system. (Attributed to poor decision making while not focusing on obeying the law and seeking an easy way to get ahead)

7- The National Institute of Drug Abuse estimated that while12 percent of drug users are black; they make up nearly 50 percent of all drug possession arrests in the U.S. One could ask, ‘Why are the police arresting the users?’ Valid question – but shouldn’t they be arrested if it is against the law to be in possession of an unlawful narcotic? Yes, we can state that white men and women use cocaine, and don’t get arrested. They do. Nonetheless, who is this black fool making the decision to smoke crack when they know it is HIGHLY addictive? The reason police started targeting crack users and crack drug dealers is because of how it destroys communities and leads to additional crime they, the police, are not interested in tackling. Ride through the urban areas of Baltimore. See what crack/heroin has done to the communities. (Attributed to black people not finding a way to seek peace and solitude in a healthy and/or lawful way – why not workout to release stress instead of getting high off highly addictive drugs? Drink a damn beer!)

Parenting

8- Just go to the grocery store. In a Kroger you are bound to witness a black parent (usually a mother because daddy is no where to be found) yelling at her kid instead of talking with them to rectify misbehavior. Ride the train on the Black routes. One will witness a black child being humiliated in the presence of strangers: ‘I’m gonna BEAT your azz for crying.’ Go to parent-teacher conferences, and you will witness black parents arguing with the teachers (when they know their child is WRONG) who are showing more attention to their kids than the black parents are. (Attributed to poor parenting, and not caring about becoming a better parent)

9- Click on the link below, watch the brief video, and then ask yourself: Why did momma allow her daughter to leave the house this way?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/12/see-the-dress-that-got-a_n_101311.html

(Attributed to the fact too many black parents do not care about the moral progression of their children)

Employment

10- Think about this statement that is said time and time again by TOO MANY black men among the working class: “Mexicans taken all the jobs.” Ignorance at its highest level! How about your black azz don’t won’t to work to earn a living for yourself and your family? Martin L. King, Jr. said, “If I had to be a street sweeper I would be the best one at it. (paraphrased)” These blacks refuse to work in jobs that the Mexicans are in – but complain about being broke - then will go and rob a decent black man trying to make it in this world honestly and respectfully. (Attributed to blacks creating excuses for their shiftlessness)

Mismanagement of Money

11- Sprewell, the rim czar and former b-ball player, foreclosed on a home Monday, May 12, 2008. The holder of the mortgage, RBS Citizens Bank, told Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Hansher that Sprewell owes $320,284. According to River Hills records, the house is assessed at $610,000 and has an estimated fair market value of $667,980. Sprewell bought the house in 1994 for $405,000. Here he was a famous b-ball player, but failed to manage his millions. Hire a damn financial planner. Idiot! An example of good management of finances: Kevin Garnet placed himself on a modest allowance so he would not RUN THROUGH his money. (Attributed to our false understanding of what is important - rather have things instead of investing – and our neglect of addressing our poor self concepts)

Inappropriate Support of the Wrong Black People

12- The NAACP gave R Kelly, a known child molester, a major award. Thousands of blacks supported Michael Vick while understanding he was DEAD WRONG; and then some of us blamed the white man. (Attributed to STUPIDITY)

I said it! Now, Run Tell That!!!

I love black people. I dislike those within my race who destroy it for good black people.

What would you have done if you were present?

Part 1

I have decided to use this question that actually began as an email survey and a YouTube video as my 'commentary' for this week. Please watch the video and then submit your answer/response in the comment section.

When we have a moment to ingest this pathetic scene of disrespect, ‘people paralysis’, and a possible moment to converse I will later share another video that will probably help us with putting human/animal behavior and reasoning, the past, and the present in context.

My intentions are good:

Hopefully, this effort will start a meaningful conversation, encourage someone to be a better parent, and/or become a mentor for our troubled youth.

The Video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQWc3MWQxtU

Question:

What would you have done if you were present?

Multiple Choices:

A. Beat that girls behind
B. Call the Police
C. Intervened to assist
D. Nothing

Be honest.

*By the way, feel free to submit a combination of answers, or a commentary.

Part 2

No Mo Buffaloes

First, let me inform you that the response from the video of the young lady who terrorized the elderly woman was overwhelming. I, honestly, could not keep up with the varying responses. Some of you decided to comment with your own commentary. That I thoroughly enjoyed! And, the majority of you selected to respond with A, B, C, D, or a combination of all multiple choices. Results below.

On this one I was not trying to single out negative behavior. Promote “black foolishness” – like I was accused of doing. All I wanted us to do was analyze the details of the video. For example, the freestyle rap lyrics from the obvious Lost Soul, her clothing, the body language of others on the train, and the old woman’s demeanor – but what surprised me the most was the following blurt from the deranged or possibly SANE female:

“You that same Ni**er I been looking for who raped me.”

What was that allegation all about?

I definitely was not surprised by the inactivity of the other riders. Nope, not at all. Not responding to this type of behavior is common place on Marta and various other public transportation systems. I believe most of us are just afraid to utter a word. Afraid our life will be snuffed-out by a fool. I can read the headline, ‘John Smith tries to save old lady from attack on train. Killed in process.’ Who wants to die on a dirty train? No one on that train was interested in protecting or dying for the elderly lady. Even the young man that ended up mushing the girl did not – but he was quick to respond when he felt ‘disrespected’. So, in fact, not one single person actively intervened on the behalf of the woman who could have been your mother or grandmother. NO ONE.

The final reminder of how disturbed some of our mental consciousness can be was when the girl began to shout Glenwood, and others started to yell West side.

Are we so empty in mind and spirit that we have to claim ‘territories’ or geographical locations of a city to attach rep to our shallow and limited mentalities while never acknowledging with self our own value? ‘The Dec (short for Decatur) is my hood’. People like this throw trash all over their hood – but The Dec is their hood?? So stupid! This preposterous gang-type ownership has been going on for years. When in fact the only places we own in our hoods are chicken wing spots (10 x 5 trailers) and car washes in ‘shopping plazas’ with 2-3 auto parts stores, numerous Asian owned hair care product stores, a Chinese food hole in the wall, and barber shops with unlicensed barbers and stylist. And, we are progressing?

Results:

A. Beat that girls behind - 9
B. Call the Police - 17
C. Intervened to assist - 22
D. Nothing - 4

After you think about the results, the actions of the brute for a female, the terrified senior, and the remaining paralyzed folk again please watch the complete video (8 minutes) at the link below. And, then please email me back with your response to this:

What connection am I trying to make with this new video and the one with the Lost Soul? (Do understand that I certainly know we are all thinkers, so no insulting of intelligence intended)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM

Only one person responded within the numerous commentary responses with an element of: Seeking the Power of the Lord. I thought that was interesting:

“…my first reaction would’ve been to first start praying for God to break that EVIL spirit that was on that girl.”

Where ya at Christians? What would have Jesus done?

On this blog ever attempt is made to present the TRUTH while understanding that TRUTH is subjective. I believe Muata has done just that. His truths may not be yours – but he is dedicated to voicing his beliefs and allowing others to share theirs. This way, there will be a meaningful exchange of information, education, rhetoric, and ranting. As for this posting, Muata has decided to share a few TRUTHFUL details about Jeremiah Wright since the mass media has failed to give him a fair shake.

Patriotism or Hatred: You Decide

In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines.

In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.) The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation.

What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated.

While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/ sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father.

Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections.

Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country?

After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America’s biggest cities.

This man is Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ!

America: A Big Fat Azz Lie

Perhaps Jeremiah Wright's truthful and hoity-toity way of speaking which is littered with black liberation theology and nationalism will spread to other black churches? It needs to. We need to be fired-up about our socio-economic lot. How we are viewed by the United States government. What we should be doing to rectify our condition. Where the responsibility should be placed. And, most importantly we must identify and encourage responsible preachers to shout from the mountain tops like Moses did on Mt. Sinai: “You, Nation of Israelites, are forsaking God.” But in this contemporary day the following will be more accurate: ‘America is a big fat azz lie!’

Everything about this devious country began with lies and betrayal e.g. eradication of the Native Americans and their culture. Maybe if the black church takes this uncharted road we will have more educated blacks than so called saved blacks. Now, ask yourself which one is more beneficial and valuable to the race: Saved or Educated? In my small, egotistical, and antagonistic frame of reference education should be your answer! Black people do not need another person to run to the altar after the Doors of the Church are opened. It will be just another lost soul seeking Jesus’ saving grace with no substance. However, think about the gained strength and power one has when they receive the truth pertaining to America and its evils. No more will you trust an oppressive system that gives you nothing but grief. No more will you wonder why other countries hate Americans. No more will you be tricked into believing that this government really wants your opinion via a vote. No more will you be a hypnotized zombie walking around here believing America is the next best thing since Kentucky Fried Chicken. You will be equipped with useful knowledge and/or rhetoric that has more thump than most Psalms reading.

Before this becomes and all out blast of the church let me shift back to my Rage Against the Machine.

America in all her glory cannot shake the truth. The truth always comes in the most unique and incapacious forms e.g. Jesus. And, the truth is usually connected to the most controversial and unwelcoming figures e.g. Muhammad Ali, Farrakhan, and Wright. One, in particular, was Jeremiah, the biblical prophet. He was known for his prophetic message not being heard by those Israelites. They were so stubborn! The children of Israel did not take heed to Jeremiah. No, they disregarded what he divinely predicted. God even warned Jeremiah, "You will go to them; but for their ego, they will not listen to you.”

How fitting. How perfect the story of Jeremiah is considering the most recent news surrounding Jeremiah Wright?

“They will not listen.” If you are a believer in the bible please note that this is God talking.

So many detractors of Wright claim he is seeking attention. Searching for the spotlight. Grandstanding. The biblical Jeremiah was rightfully accused of wanting attention also. He went so far as to walk around with yoke on his upper body with the intention to attract attention. I guess both Jeremiahs were/are wanting to be heard. Heard in a way where a change will come. Unfortunately, white 'conditional change-seekers' who were fully behind Barack Obama are now re-thinking their allegiance. While black people stand and shout: 'We believe what Jeremiah Wright is saying and we select to stay in Barack's corner.'

Meanwhile, those flaky white backers of Barack are upset. Offended by the TRUTH. My momma always told me, "if the truth makes you angry you are guilty."

Hermeneutic Transfer:

Today America is the modern day Israelite nation. Not listening to the broken hearted prophet, Jeremiah Wright. Mr. Wright’s heart is shattered. He loved his country as a Marine and as a Navy Seaman – but what did America do: Turned her back on him and all the other black men who signed-up for this terrorist organization we call the United States Armed Forces. So, when Jeremiah Wright links America to the KKK white people and some blacks should not be offended. The KKK has functioned as a terrorist group for years. The KKK is racist. The KKK does not care about anyone who believes differently than them. The KKK is pompous. The KKK are oppressors. They both - appear to have similar traits and behaviors. Right?

America is a big fat azz lie. Nothing will change that. But, what will help is the prophetic voice of Jeremiah Wright, others like him, and the Book of Jeremiah. I suggest America’s gatekeepers read this story of a man who was told by God to pray no more for His people. This simply indicates that God was frustrated with His people then; and He continues to be frustrated because they, white America, will not listen to today’s Jeremiah.

So, the question could be:

Should Wright sit down and shut-up like Jeremiah eventually did?

Another question:

Why are we, black folk, still sneaking around like scared slaves with our true feelings in order to be accepted by the White Man? So sad!

Written by Muata. Inspired by Larikus.

Mr. Larikus, America has not reconciled or changed the lie. And, Barack Obama will NOT change anything until they do!

A Forced Betrayal

A few weeks ago Barack Obama said in affect, "I can no more disown Jeremiah Wright than I can the black family/people." Yesterday, our hope for change turned his back on Jeremiah Wright and the black family. I gathered this from Barack’s words. I did not make this up. He said it. Re-read the quote I just typed.

Barack had to do this to maintain votes from the white family. Blacks will stay with him regardless. We have proven to stay when we probably should not. Remember OJ? I am upset and sadden that Barack had to do this - but he was forced to by the white man since he wants to be the president of these United States.

But then again, we (black folk) have been here before. We have had to disown each other to be accepted fully by the white man i.e. House Negro vs. Field Negro. Sad reality. Nonetheless, there have been courageous black men who sacrificed for us completely. Gave it all up to honor the truth i.e. Honorable Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, the list goes on and on.

Barack did not give up his bid for the presidency yesterday for what I believe to be the Greater Good. God’s Good: The Truth. I understand why. He running for president. Get it: RUNNING?? While he runs he is running from us, black folk, so he can win a seat that will stay the same while he is in it: CORRUPT.

We can blame Jeremiah Wright. This is what Mr. White Man wants us to do: Divide and Conquer. Willy Lynch.

The truth is we still have to bow down to the great White in order to get ahead in this union. This should be a learning experience for us. We need to get our own, and stop depending on this European power structure to take care of us.

At this point, we are nothing more than puppets.

Sad.

Party Loyalty is how Elections are Won

After winning the Pennsylvania primary Hilary Clinton said to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, “…the tide is turning.” When I think of a tide I associate it with a wave. A huge wave. Typically, reversing a tide cannot be accomplished without overwhelming force. The force has to be so powerful and commanding that the re-direction of the water literally has to do a complete shift. It is like standing in front of hundreds of people who are in an all out sprint, asking them to stop running towards you, and then requesting that they immediately turn and run in another direction. It ain’t gonna happen. Well, not without pre-orchestrated agility, selfless organization, and discreet finesse.

Agility

Quick and well-coordinated in movement. This small and simplistic definition of agility is reflective of the Republican Party. The GOP has been known for its ability to mobilize prior to the ‘big dance’ – and definitely during the big dance. Elections have been simple for them to win because they move in simultaneous coordination. All of the major players fall into line. Similar to the humility of Mitt Romney. When it was time to step down and follow, he did. He was a soldier taking orders. Biting the bullet for something greater: The Grand Old Party. Mitt Romney said the following a few months back. One would assume he was referring to all of America, but in my sometimes shallow mind I believe he was talking about his affiliation. His gang.

“…to this task, accepting this burden, we are all dedicated, and I firmly believe, by providence of the Almighty, that we will succeed beyond our fondest hope.”

“We are all dedicated”

That they are. Dedicated to the party. Not dedicated to the figurehead like the Donkey Democrats are emotionally attached to faddish Barack or man-tendency Hilary.

Organization

The state or manner of being organized. This definition is a perfect description of black folk’s former party (Yes, blacks were once aligned with the Republican Party). The Republicans are open to being used in order to save the unit. The family. When asked by someone in leadership to hold-off; they comply. If it requires a sacrifice they will oblige like a well trained child. Not that they think and behave on a childish level. No, the Republicans of this party are thinking robots who are in-tune with what needs to be done to acquire that presidential seat. They have learned to be unselfish for the sake of the whole. Seeking the final successful outcome by giving up a part of themselves.

Finesse

Extreme delicacy or subtlety in action. Have you noticed how surprisingly delicate the GOP Elephants have been during this political saga? Every word is manufactured-ly calculated with the intent on not making a dreadful mistake. Listen to John Sidney McCain III when he speaks. His responses are short, concise, to the point, and most importantly answers the question that’s asked. He does not sermonize us with Hope and Change elocution like… You guessed it. Barack Obama. Also, there are not many Republican supporters or elected officials out there putting their foot in their mouth i.e. The Ultimate Democrat and uncontrolled fibber, Bill Clinton. Delicacy is what they aspire to achieve while being subtle. So subtle the American democrats have no clue what the Republicans are up to as America prepares for the “most important election ever” (according to Al Sharpton). Didn’t we hear the same rhetoric back in 2000? It is disappointing that black democratic leaders have to use fear mongering tactics to get black people to the polls after their great-grandfathers were dragged in the streets because they wanted their voices to be heard. What a betrayal! By the way, these are the same forgetful black people who favored the Clintons in the past – but now worship Barack Obama. And, on the other side of the race coin, we have these polished and educated white people who are suddenly Obama choir members when in fact they were Bill Clinton’s surrogates back in the day. No loyalty!

*****

The Republican Party, unlike the Dummie-crats, is gearing up. They have given up so much for a victory. They are ready to die for what is important to them: Republican Loyalty. They have this brand of allegiance, and the Democrats do not. Democrats have been known to be fickle. So amazingly and foolishly inconsistent that a high percentage of them are planning to not vote in the general election if their democratic candidate does not win the nomination. What a symbol of togetherness they have. What a display of unity they have. But, what should I expect from a party full of loosely liberal minded, give me more, never satisfied, and always complaining group of wanna-be patriots. Patriots sacrifice. Patriots are not selfish. Patriots have the ability to coordinate for the greater good. Patriots are more than willing to strategically deploy for the greater good. Patriots move faintly while evaluating each and every step for THE GREATER GOOD.

It is too bad the Democrats are not in agreement. Not on the same page. Not moving in unison. Let’s keep in mind that stubborn Hilary is not the lone barrier in the road. If the Democrat Party was truly “for the people” they would have never built into their process the ‘supper delegate has the final say’ option.

John McCain, to my disdain, will be the next President of the Untied States.

You Democrats, are to blame!

Barack is a roaring Lion among spineless Lambs

"It's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.." -Barack Obama (on rural town people from Pennsylvania)

They, the lambs, have viciously twisted Barack's words to the point he is accused of "attacking religion". That religion is America's "opiate": Christianity. Saying anything remotely close to criticizing the white man's religion will surely get you into hot water; and when a black politician scrutinizes the blond head blue-eyed Jesus' mantra he potentially issues a political death sentence for himself.

This spineless uproar proves to me AGAIN that America has to be one of the most insecure nations on the face of the earth. As soon as their mischievously established, violently force-fed, and brainwashing mechanism is referred to something that is clinged to they forcefully get on the defense. Why? I will tell you.

Christianity in all of its deliriously perceived brilliancy is a failed movement. The only 'thing' that holds it together is misconception, false truths, and flat out lies which is supported by the power of the United States government. Even when people from rural Pennsylvania, Thomasville and High Point, North Carolina - both mill towns - "cling" to religion they often discover Christianity is not enough. It is a temporary fix reserved for Sunday mornings. I recall my mother and almost everyone else's mother from Thomasville going to work in an uncomfortably hot or cold furniture factory (depending on the season). The work was back-breaking hard, and the pay was horrendous. No significant fruits from their labor were produced so they did appear to be "bitter". Who would not be? Their bitterness at times leads them to the liquor houses (Juke Joints for those of you reading who have no idea what a liquor house is). Then on Sunday it was time to go to the one place that was falsely consistent. That one place that provided a make believe comfort: The House of the Lord. This is where they attached themselves for three long hours, The Church.

Senator Barack Obama, the LION, got it RIGHT once again. Those poor downtrodden people are angry. They lost their job to a "brown skin, flat face, slant-eyed Asian". This is how I have heard the Chinese described by those American men and women who are now cleaning bathrooms at cheap hotels that are managed by Indian illegal immigrants. Yes, they are mistakenly mad at these people for 'taking their jobs'. They are also pissed-off at a government that allowed international towns, districts, villages, and provinces to flourish at the expense of their jobs.

The America Government in its hypocrisy fails to identify with small and rural town America. Isn't it funny a black "elitist" Harvard grad understands and they don't? America is so typical, shallow, and common. This country does NOT deserve a Barack Hussein Obama!

The truth is within the voice of those who should be heard. Keep talking, Barack!!

"God has to be Tired of this Shit"

I often think if God is truly tired of what we have recklessly re-designed. Have you? Seriously, is our Lord disgusted by what we have done to His creation? Perhaps not, considering God was the one who allegedly allowed Adam and Eve to jack the world up: Free-will. Think about it. If the story is accurate, God labored for six days diligently fashioning the universe. Then left the Garden of Eden for a few moments. Came back, and later discovered what He molded with adulation was destroyed by one act of disobedience. Makes me wonder why God would go to so much trouble for us by creating the world, and then permit two human beings to destroy His work. Sadistic?

Most of us are serious about our work. We get to work on time. We do not abuse our lunch hour, and we make every attempt to successfully address our responsibilities in the timeframe we are given. God did all of this while on the job during His initial days of employment. He was never tardy. He did not make any mistakes; so they say. He only took one break throughout his lengthy days of work (On the Sabbath). Reminds me of a Mexican. However, the completion of work can be subjective. I can look over my work and confidently believe it is complete, and needs no adjustments. Someone else may appear to be more critical and conclude my efforts are incomplete; unsatisfactory. Which leads me to my question, Are you satisfied with what God has allowed to come of His masterpiece? Even if we believe in the Free-will concept you have to admit that what has become of this world is sickening. And, I wonder why God has not intervened to save the best of His creation, the Saints and Believers. If the story is true I guess they will be saved.

It is interesting that everything related to God is contingent on “if the story is true”. Have you even considered if the extremely convincing story that’s told by Christian ministers, grandparents, theologians, and church-goers is NOT true? Some of us will never fathom or entertain the idea. To do so puts us in an unworthy light with Mr. God himself. No one wants to be in the dog house (bad favor) with the Lord considering He has been known to strike down those who doubt and rebuke Him. A perfect example of someone who received the wrath of God is Haman, the antagonist in the Book of Esther. God did not waste any time with Haman after it was discovered he was plotting to kill God’s favorites: the Jews. It is apparent with Hebrew Bible support that God was more hands-on during those days. He was always ready to protect His highly favored and even exterminate those who did not comply. There are countless stories in the bible that reference God’s fatherly allegiance to His ‘Chosen Ones’, the Righteous. He was prepared to issue a death sentence to anyone who defied His agenda.

At least we are aware, via King James’ stories, that God cared then. But, now in my summation it is difficult to determine if God is really tired of this stinky stuff. We have those ‘enlighten individuals’ who blatantly disrespect God, we have those who do not believe Jesus is God’s son, we have those who believe the entire concept of God is foolishness, we have those who do not adhere to His commandments, we have those who refuse to acknowledge the power of God, and the list goes on and on with all sorts of “sins”. (I am aware some of you believe I am among this hell-bound group) And, still there is no movement from God. He continues to be unresponsive. Unless, you believe He is issuing vengeful retribution with disastrous and deadly weather that’s affected all of the United States in some form over the past 2-3 years e.g. ravishing floods, uncontrollable wild fires, erratic tornadoes, cataclysmic hurricanes, etc. Is this God’s way of sending the chickens home to roost?

Jeremiah Wright, in one of his fiery but truthful sermons, told his parishioners, “God has to be tired of this shit”. When I analyze the evils which have lead to the ills of America that are mentioned in this particularly sermon I conclude that there is something possibly missing among the people regularly seated in Jeremiah’s former church during America’s most segregated hour, and among most Americans: A Fear of God’s Anger. No one cautiously fears God like we were told to do as children. As He was feared by the Tribe of Judah. God is a joke to most of us. An impotent afterthought. An unused relic. Something of the past that no longer has the ability to rule.

Isn’t it obvious He is not sitting on the throne ruling or could it be that He is so sick of this shit that He “sadistically” refuses to reprimand us perilously carefree descendants of Abraham considering His remarkable acts previously used to get our attention have been insolently disregarded for far too long? Perhaps, He will have the last laugh!

What do you think?

The Big Gorilla

LeBron James is the first black man to grace the cover of Vogue Magazine. Shaft can’t even claim this accomplishment, and he was by all accounts DA MAN! These days all it takes is to be liked or disliked by the establishment to get attention. Not that Mr. James does not garner attention. He does on the hard wood and while he soars through the air like an agile freak of nature. Actually, he commands respect from the best players playing around in our new Hip-Hop National Basketball Association.

LeBron, one of America’s most recognized sports characters, has become an icon. He is well on his way to cementing his place in sports history. This April he proves to the world again that he is versatile and willing to crossover like Sean Combs. However, Combs has not been called King Kong by his critics.

Gracing the cover of Vogue, I am sure, was never a goal of LeBron’s while he drove a Hummer to high school - and I am certain he never thought taking a picture with a top model would cause such a stir. His immaturity and naivety more than likely prevented him from realizing his historical moment in time would offend and/or generate pride. He just didn’t know! Remember, LeBron James is a basketball player – not a social activist.

There are a few pro black loud mouths and a couple white liberal heart liberals who are shouting he should have known the ramifications of such a picture:

"The photo is perpetuating racial stereotypes. James strikes what some see as a gorilla-like pose, baring his teeth, with one hand dribbling a ball and the other around Bundchen’s tiny waist.”

“Images of black male athletes as aggressive and threatening reinforce the criminalization of black men."

Is this another case of 'black hypersensitivity/white guilt empathy' or is this cover/picture purporting stereotypical images with a bit of racist overtures?

Below are three links to articles covering the story. The second link has several reader comments. They are insightful. The third link will take you to the Vogue cover story.

I must say that Lebron James somewhat resembles the Big Gorilla: King Kong!

What say you?

Jeremiah Wright: What He Said Years Ago May Derail Barack

It was only a matter of time. Barack has had to aggressively denounce Jeremiah Wright's, his church pastor and spiritual advisor, statements: "I vehemently condemn the statements of Jeremiah Wright...in sum I reject his statements". That is a snippet of Barack's enhanced reproach.

Believe me; I certainly understand why Obama has come out with a more forceful statement. We all know to win the presidency candidates have to script what they say, and also distance themselves from individuals who may utter words that his/her voter base may consider inflammatory. So much for being yourself! In this case, Barack is more concerned by what this means to his white constituency, and not the black voters since we pretty much agree with Wright’s “anti-American” rhetoric. But, who am I to criticize, Barack Obama is running for the president of Babylon, and not the chairman of the local Black Panther Party. I guess he understands that we are in a country where being yourself is costly, and certainly not respected.

It is not ironic Barack Obama cannot stand behind what he believes, and it is obvious what Jeremiah Wright believes about America could be part of Barack's belief system considering he has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over 20 years; and there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion. Even if Barack does not believe we should "God Damn America" Barack has been associated with a controversial biblical theology and radical teaching that alarms white America.

Isn’t it interesting that these white folk, the Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly types, are surprised that a few of us (black folk) are actually disgusted with this bias and corrupt system that governs Americans. They actually expect us to be porch monkey happy and tap dancing thankful to be apart of this 'great nation'. They still don't attempt to understand our plight while we are steadily and FOOLISHLY trying NOT to see the world in a black and white scenario.

Black people, America is viewed in BLACK AND WHITE - HAVES and HAVE NOTS by those in power, so why are you black people trying to see in the reverse? Are we just being good ole blacks...again? We, in all our efforts, need to see the United States for what it is: Us against Them. Black vs. White. Rich and Poor. Educated and Uneducated. Do we really believe white people who control this nation want a melting pot? Common on, people!

Jeremiah Wright is not far from being RIGHT. Most of us, black and white people, know this. Unfortunately, in America the truth hurts. It is a troublesome sore that will not heal for those persons in control. They are only interested in a superficial healing, and those of us who understands something about the truth knows that the truth is not flimsy.

White Girls Killed and Blacks Say NOTHING - Another case of Black Hypocrisy?

"More than half of the nation's annual homicides of about 15,000 are committed by black men. Not only is a black man much more likely to commit a homicide, but he is much more likely to die by homicide. And the killer is likely -- almost certain, in fact -- to be another black man."

It is apparent the black man has a deadly issue with hating himself. However, the recent murders of America’s southern debutantes, Eve Carson and Lauren Burk, may indicate that black men are well on their way to finally repudiating their salient allegiance to white folk. The allegiance I am speaking of is connected to the way murderous black men have valued a white life over a black life for the past 200 years.

Typically, if a white person is killed by a black person we can expect that darkie to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is the way our judicial system functions, and not too many people have questioned it. Including black people. Inconsequently, for years now I have wondered why there is some sort of soul immunization among black people when a black person murders another black person. It is like we expect it. A routine occurrence that black people read about in an urban city’s newspaper Metro section without the slightest of concern. I believe I am even safe in saying that whiteys are unalarmed too. It’s just another dead nigger. Right?

Carson and Burk were beautiful white girls. They were everyday white chicks who more than likely did not associate much with black people. Their encounters with a few black folk were probably horrible memories that they wanted to forget. Like the countless young adult memories I have related to white men: uncomfortable, scary, feelings of insecurity and ignorance. Lacking some level of knowledge probably did not play a role in the brutal killings of Eve and Lauren. They were well aware that black men are dangerous. They saw how explosively volatile we are on television. No doubt! They may have also been reminded by momma and daddy to ‘stay away from those animals’. This would not surprise me because in most cases when watching the junk tube black men are portrayed as ruthless, stone cold, tough, and/or non-caring mammals. Or, perhaps as cross dressing buffoons - thanks to Mr. Tyler Perry.

While we are thought of as criminals before we go to jail and punks when viewing so called black movies, I wonder when the mindset shifts to one of complete black self-hatred to hating white people too? Literally hating them. I can perfectly understand why we grow to detest ourselves if we constantly bombard our psyche with images of those 50 Cent types – but how have we gotten to this place of empathetically hating white people? Our view of them has always been one of superiority: Yes ‘um Boss - and envy. Right? Haven’t we been trying to be Eurocentric? (Yes, you have. Stop lying! You know staying African was not an option).

Has our hatred spilled over? Perhaps, some of us now understand that white people can be hated too: The hating of ourselves can be extended to John and Cindy. Some black people, those wearing grossly oversize jeans and baseball caps with the price tag dangling, don’t have to hide how much they hate them anymore. We, decent acting black people, don’t have to keep the hatred behind barber shop doors any longer. It’s actually okay and evidently ‘cool’ to let the world know by killing innocent white people. Eve Carson and Lauren Burk are some of the first causalities of this new (or is it improved) hatred. They were gunned down while attempting to obtain something most black women are trying to acquire: a college education; while countless black men are roaming the streets searching for white and black prey.

If I was white I would be scared as HELL. These new type of Negroes don’t care about themselves at all and they APPERANTLY don’t give a damn about Mr. Bernstein or his children any longer.

Chasing the American Dream, Becoming a Loser

When I was a kid living in a two bedroom house with five adults and two siblings I did not realize that I didn’t’ have any privacy. Having this overly cherished preference and American commodity was not important to me because I wanted to be in the middle of things anyway. I was one of those kids who always had to say or do something to get some level of attention. At times that attention was not welcomed by me because it was given with a belt or that dreaded switch. But, I must admit despite the unnecessarily earned whippings I received, sharing a terribly uncomfortable sofa bed with my grandmother was a treat. This way, I was always coddled by grandma since she was the one who encouraged me to relentlessly chat and show my behind. She enjoyed my displays of foolishness because she needed something to laugh about. I was her joy!

The house on Small Street was full. Really full. Nevertheless, that box for a house was our home. It was something we were proud to own. We cleaned it religiously every Saturday morning prior to the airing of Soul Train. Spotless is what that house was. So fresh and so clean! After the lengthy cleaning session we, my brother and sister, were permitted to escape from the confines of that box. We were permitted to roam the neighborhoods freely until the street lights came on. That was something we could count on: Illumination of the Hood. For a few families down the street this was the only powered light they would experience sometimes considering their lights, and ours here and there, would be turned off by Duke Power, the notorious utility company – but turning off our electricity was of no consequence for us. We still lived. Life did not stop because we still had our home. It was ours. No one could take it. Not even those banks that people from my neighborhood did not trust. For us our money was safer in a shoe box or under a cheap mattress; and there was no way in hell our house was going to be seized because of a bank foreclosure.

Part of the American Dream is to be a home owner: Marriage, kids, then a home with a white picket fence. This is what was drilled into my head while in elementary, middle, and high school. Even in college, this dream was reinforced. The dream permeates our culture. It is so powerfully persuasive that many of us feel like losers if we never acquire something we can call home sweet home. That structure that has us saying, ‘I have to pay my mortgage this week’; instead of saying ‘I have to pay my RENT this week’.

I can honestly say what motivated me to purchase property was the fact that my friends and colleagues were buying condos and houses to live in. There was simply not a drive for me to own a home at the time – but the feelings of being left out and inadequate encouraged me to ‘follow behind’ my friends, so I became a homeowner. It is evident many of the homeowners today did what I did: Succumbed to peer pressure. The only difference with me was I, thankfully, was able to afford the overpriced condo I selected.

It is estimated that thirty percent of Americans will be financially upside down with their mortgage loans by the end of 2008. That’s a staggering 15 million people! These people will lose what the American Dream describes as success. They are now among the fold who listened to our government: ‘Invest in a home. Become a home owner.’ But, they soon will become filers of bankruptcy. Something, in many ways, our thoughtful government touted as an “option” for individuals who would remain financial stable when Chapter 13 was filed. Now, we have the average Joe on a sinking ship, and feeling the pinch. A pinch that many say could have been prevented if only Mr. and Mrs. Joe would have made a sensible decision: Continued to rent until they REALLY could afford a home.

In retrospect, perhaps paying rent was the smart option. Expecting people, from all walks of life by the way, not to cave after being told repeatedly by Uncle Sam to buy a house - and later preyed upon by un-federally regulated loan companies was a failed financial recipe for a market that has literally tanked. And, now our government leaders are claiming that they are concerned. Even the President is involved. With this level of ‘concern’ from the highest authorities on earth, there are well-to-do pundits and every day judgmental citizens who are placing all the blame on the facing-foreclosure homeowners. Homeowners who were only chasing the American Dream. A dream that some of us have acquired or trying to attain. All these ARM (adjustable rate mortgage) takers wanted was what I had on Small Street: A Home.

Who is responsible for the current mortgage crisis? Should the government bail the Mr. and Mrs. Joe out?

Who will have the final say?

The more I hear about and research this potentially complex delegate and super delegate scenario I begin to question if we, the American people, truly have an ultimate and final say in our voting process as it was decreed back in 1968 that the people selects the Presidential Nominee. Of course I am aware that our vote during primaries and caucuses does not determine who will be our next president. Nonetheless, I definitely understand that the “will of the people” should be validated and supported by both the Democrat and Republican parties. Considering the more accurate depiction of who the people want in office (the popular vote), no strategically selected figureheads should make the final decision on who will be the Democratic Presidential Nominee. Who are these delegates and super delegates anyway? Why is their say more important than the every day American who is justifiably concerned about their job security?

As I have discovered during my excitement about what America’s new likable celebrity, Barack Obama, has been able to accomplish, his continued whipping of Hilary does not necessary guarantee him the title of 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee. I knew it was too good to be true! In light of this fact, we, those of us who care, are now sitting on the edge of our seats wondering if our political system will honor the Obama Revolution after the peoples’ votes are tallied at the Democratic National Convention. Will those highly prestigious persons given the title of Super Delegate listen to the roar of A Change We Can Believe In? Will they? Or, will they side with what they think is best for the party: An almost defeated Hilary Clinton?

It is obvious the Clinton Machine is desperate at this juncture. They just cannot win anywhere! The slinging of what they perceive to be dirt on Barack Obama will intensify as long as the people continue to support him with the one thing we all should cherish. Our vote. Holding it to heart has always been important. Both black and white people died for today’s blacks to exercise this right. Yeah, you have heard that before. You have heard this before too: There is no reason for us (black folk) not to take part in America’s electoral process. And, the new justification for our vote has been blurted from every corner of the United States too: If we are only voting because Barack is black we are in an essence defying and disrespecting the true meaning and purpose of voting.

All of this tired and unconvincing discourse only to say that our vote should mean something to us; and trivializing it to he is black is shallow. And, it is more than likely something Obama does not want us to do. But, with all the emphasis placed on black people to vote and how we should vote, I am wondering why is it publicly acceptable for white and a few black republicans to declare that they are not going to vote this time around because they do not like Mr. McCain? Could it be because their (white folks and/or most republicans) history is not the same as ours? Basically indicating, the only reason black people should vote is because great grandma was once denied the right to vote. What if the majority of black democrats today were in a position to proudly broadcast to the world that they are not going to vote because they do not like man-tendency Hilary and preacher-like Barack. Would there be a backlash? Of course it would. We would be called fools, and we would be accused of being shiftless and ignorant of the issues at hand.

Apparently, there is a double standard floating around out there in the political atmosphere: If a white person decides not to support (vote this election) the shoe-in for the Republican Nomination, John McCain, it is quite alright – but if a black person does not vote he/she is a pathetic loser, and in affect spitting in the face of Chicken George. Help me understand this blatant contrasting principle.

Should we (black people) do a turnaround if the Super Delegates trump the will of the people? Should we throw our support behind Hilary Clinton when and if these big shots defy America’s elderly, young, poor, wealthy, educated, and uneducated backers of Barack? Or, should we do what countless Republicans are saying that they are going to do: Not vote because they do not like their candidate? No, blacks will not do this. We will vote because it appears we NOW understand the significance of the vote even if it is for this unlikable Clinton.

Could America’s descendants of salves be coming out in droves because Barack is black, or is it because we are FINALLY realizing voting is critical? I believe Barack Obama, as he tries to defeat Hilary Clinton, has effectively inspired African Americans to value that right that was gained with Kizzy’s blood.

When is judging appropriate?

We spend a significant amount of our time trying not to be judgmental. We also spend seconds and minutes self-righteously judging the behavior of others. If it does not resemble the delicate and inconsistent morals we have so carefully formed over the years we begin to get uncomfortable with the person we have decided to judge. On occasion that individual who has more than likely made a bad decision, which in many cases is a similar decision we have made, becomes the target of our non Christ-like criticism and judgment (John 12:47). We even at times remove this individual from our cell phone and BlackBerry contacts. This indicating that our new former associate has done something that does not fit into the righteousness of our Christian assembled moral compass. Is the judgment applied to this individual appropriate? Is it right?

On several occasions I have conveyed to my boys that it is quite alright to judge me. I have let them know that judging me with compassion is acceptable. I have no issue with it at all! Some have asked, ‘why in the world are you okay with this level of scrutiny from men who probably made the same mistake you have made? Well, that’s why. Who is in a better seat to judge me than the men who have been where I was? When I was in self-inflicted trouble or when I did something that is easily defined as stupid, I needed friends to tell me that I was WRONG with a seed of judgment. I definitely did not need a friend who would skirt around what really needed to be said all in a scriptural effort not to appear judgmental. I believe that there are entirely too many of those types of friends within the ranks of friendships: Those who never lovingly reprimand a friend with the truth about their idiotic decisions.

Inconsequently, it does not surprise me that this nation has a complexity with judgment {even when a person like myself has no issue with being judged} considering the foundation of this hypocritical nation is founded upon the principles of Christianity. Christianity is looted with judgment. Its main character, God, was and to some remains to be a judger of behavior and actions. He has found it necessary to judge in His effort to ‘bring’ people to Him. What other way does He discriminate?

According to the Bible so many of us confidently refer to, Jesus does not approve of us judging others (Matthew 7: 1-5), but on the other hand this Father of ours has ruthlessly judged men and women since the beginning of time. All of His judgment is based on His expectations of right and wrong. If you do right in this life you are guaranteed a spot in His heaven – but if you do wrong and do not repent your path to hell is already trail blazed. The only way this afterlife concept is applied successfully is through judgment. And yet, we are all up in arms when someone does something that this nation’s religion has sanctioned: JUDGE.

I can hear those ready to attack, ‘Muata, what about that bible scripture that says we should not be judgmental?’ There we go again referring to a source that supports what we were told to believe during bible study while failing to understand that verse and all the others were written by men to account for or justify their actions. Which is perfect justification for the biblical contradictions. Including this one: Jesus snubs judgment while it is a functionality within God’s DNA. But, He is God. Therefore, it should be okay? Who should we emulate? The Father or the Son?

I am in agreement that Matthew 7:1-5 is a pretty decent standard to live by. However, how much longer should we be non-judgmentally silent when we know that some behaviors and actions are not appropriate for civilization and/or humanity? Should we continue to become a Culture of Silence while the world crumbles around us? Can we find an effective way to tell someone that they are wrong without being immediately told: You are judging me. Unfortunately, when the judgment accusation is leveled the opportunity to help each other rectify behavior that will be judged one day by God (supposedly) is lost - resulting in us avoiding what is critical for this world: Compassionate Judgment that does not Condemn.

And, if we really want to dissect Matthew 7:1-5 please take a long analyzing look at the following:

Don't judge others, or you will be judged. You will be judged in the same way that you judge others, and the amount you give to others will be given to you.

This is verse 1 and 2 of the text we are dissecting. After reading chapter 7 of Matthew, I have determined that this excessively quoted scripture and complete chapter is addressing the one thing we also fail to do effectively: Hold each other accountable.

Your Homosexuality Compassion Compass

Law and Order SVU had a great episode on a couple of weeks ago. Since watching it I have been second guessing myself: Should I share my thoughts with the world or should I just ignore that little man on my shoulder who has been encouraging me to share my feelings and commentary? The little man was the winner of my internal battle, and as a result of Dick Wolf’s brilliancy I have decided to step out there knowing that what I write on this subject could offend and also confirm someone’s thoughts/beliefs.

Let’s begin with a brief synopsis of the episode. (If I have the details wrong please let me know, but my 'survey' still should have legitimacy and merit).

The Show:

A woman is severely beaten-up by her brother-in-law. She is pregnant. She is hospitalized. While in the hospital her husband discovers that she has been a research participant for a study. The study: A genetic testing to determine if her child will be gay/homosexual or not. She is aware that her brother-in-law is gay, but not out of the closet. The test/study reveals that her un-born boy will be a homosexual. Her husband is not pleased with the test outcome. Actually, he is furious. As a result he demands an abortion; and he has full authority over the decision because his wife is in a vegetative state due to severe head trauma. So, he decides to abort. His reasoning: reckless homophobia, hatred of gays, and a non-interest in his son having to be tormented by a society that believes homosexuality is a 'foolish' lifestyle selection.

Question:

Do you believe the majority of the people in the United States would prefer to abort or will abort the child if he/she had complete/100% accurate/binding evidence that their child will be gay?

To begin the dialogue here is my honest answer/response:

I believe the American masses would select to abort. I believe most people worldwide would prefer the abortion route. In numerous countries being gay is against the law. Also, in some countries the people are so 'disgusted' with homosexuality that some gay men have been murdered in one of the most horrific ways possible e.g. burned to death. Also, to make it a little more personal - I would... I am not going to tell!

If you are stuck on my personal inclination (abortion conversation) you are ready to judge me. Don't pass judgment. Unrelenting, self-righteous, ignorant, and non-caring judgment hinders effective communication.

What say you?

Barack Obama’s Complexion appears to be Irrelevant

Change is popular now. It is the ‘in thing’. The new hip and vintage concept and/or word that’s part of numerous catch phrases. It is also Barack Obama’s campaign platform: Change we can Believe in. Change is and will remain his mantra – but interestingly enough several of those right-wingers are being caught using that remarkable concept/word: Change. I am not mad at them for jumping on the Barack’s much needed rhetorical bandwagon considering it now appears to be a common denominator that’s voiced by people from all walks of life e.g. black, white, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, etc.

Sam Cooke said, “A change is gonna come.” Barack Obama says, “We don’t want to just change presidents. We want to change politics!” Cooke was right – but America’s “first black president”, Bill Clinton (this description is so culturally insulting to black Americans), said that Obama’s lofty idea is a fairy tale. It is interesting that Bill Clinton dismissed Obama’s idealism when many of us were moved by William Jefferson’s humble and hope-filled demeanor, and exuberating charisma back in 1992.

Why is the first black president characterization insulting? Because, we actually gave Bill this title as a result of his adulterous affair and after he lied on national television. I guess deceiving and cheating on your wife classifies him as a black man. So ridiculous and self humiliating.

Obama with his idealistic reasoning believes that America is ready for a change, and the people of Iowa and New Hampshire claim via caucuses’ and primary votes that they are ready for Barack to lead us in the direction that always comes whether we want it to or not. Despite the lost to Hilary in New Hampshire - the state that boasts, “You are going to Love it Here” - Barack Obama has solidified his position in American history. He is one of few black politicians who have successfully crossed the line white America has so successfully cemented in American life: That unnoticeable line that informs non-whites of ‘their place’.

Change occurs with or without our assistance. Change is believed to be ordained by the Great Master of Destiny. We should know this by now. Particularly those of us who claim the world changed for the better when God sacrificed His only son: Crucified so we may live. But, what I am surprised by is the amount of unwavering faith and astounding belief white people from IA and NH are willing to invest in a black man. I literally cannot believe that they have significant confidence in this skinny, preacher-like, former chain smoker, energetic, intelligent, and sincere black man so dearly. Is Obama black or what? His light skin is definitely a plus for them! Could I be dreaming or is this a new day in American politics? He has galvanized and inspired the young adult population. Have we (the black masses) finally convinced white folk that we are just as, and in countless cases, more competent than they are? More of us do have letters behind our names and manage profitable corporations. Or, is America really (this time around) seriously wanting someone in the White House who will mount an effective campaign for changing the outcome in Iraq, revamping the healthcare system, cleaning up America’s reputation at home and worldwide, providing a solution for the illegal immigration crisis; and equally as important, finally focus on assisting the poor?

Time will tell.

However, before time starts to tell I would like to explore with your assistance what it would be like for a black man to be the next president of the United States. Since I am somewhat limited in coming up with realities of a black president I would like to solicit your priceless and always appreciated feedback.

Please share with me what you think America would be like over the next four years if Barack Obama wins the 2008 presidency. What will be accomplished if he is voted in? How do you think the red state constituency will respond to this potential moment in history? Who will be responsible for securing the office of president for him? Will black folk finally begin to participate fully in the political/voting process? Will this give indication that America has addressed and overcome its number one problem: Race Relations?

What say you?

Take an additional 5 minutes to listen to or read Barack’s Yes we Can speech {link below}. It was delivered after his second place showing in New Hampshire. I was inspired and I am convinced that Barack is the only true candidate of Change! Unfortunately, I am also convinced that America’s bed is made with hypocrisy and arrogance. There is no coming back from what our government has done and not done unless Barack’s plea to us works:

I am asking you to believe. Not in just my ability to bring about change in Washington… I am asking you to believe in yours.”
