In or Out of Wedlock?

When I read the phrase, ‘Out of Wedlock’, I begin to think: Does ‘In Wedlock’ mean that the scenario is different? Technically, I guess there is a difference considering one’s marital status is affected…but realistically, what does In/Out Wedlock imply when kids are involved?

When I think of both (married/unmarried), based on my baby daddy experience and my knowledge of the in’s and out’s of countless failed marriages, I really do not comprehend a difference. If momma and daddy are together, but hate each other there is no difference. If momma and daddy are ‘living in sin’ and estranged there is no difference. With the overwhelming divorce rate (over 50%) and pathetic marriages that should have ended years ago (too many to count) I ask, what is the point of ‘locking’ the involvement up in holy matrimony if a pregnancy sneaks up on ya? What does the marriage guarantee when thinking of the children?

Should more black folk get married considering the following statistic:

70% of BLACK children are raised by single black women

Which is better?

*Go ahead and get hitched knowing you are not ready to be married to the man/woman you made the
baby with.

Or

*Accept the baby momma/baby daddy role and be the best parent you can be outside of the home.

40% babies out-of-wedlock

“For a variety of reasons, it's become more acceptable for women to have babies without a husband”, said Duke University's S. Philip Morgan…”

Nearly half British babies out of wedlock - UPI.com

“The percentage of British babies are now born out of wedlock continues to approach 1-in-2…”

If the Out of Wedlock scenario is becoming “acceptable”, why does it still have a negative connotation when speaking of black people, particularly poor black people? I press here because this wealthy couple has not received much flack for their out of wedlock baby making ways:

When asked, Does Satan Exist?

Satan is The Believer all wrapped up in his/her self serving religiously generated arrogance.

That was my initial response – but of course I had to add more:

Satan? A devil? Really?
Perhaps you have created a negative force to justify the positive force: God.
Perhaps you have to have a reason for the countless injustices that occur around the world.
Perhaps you falsely believe in a literal interpretation of the bible e.g. Fallen Angel (Isaiah 14:3-14:20). Where did this Lucifer fall from? Story of Lucifer Such a ridiculous story!
To agree/believe that there is a devil gives credence to our inability to understand our devilish defects/actions.
Were the men and women who participated in the violent enforcement of slavery on North American soil devils?
http://blackademics.org/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/Fene05_Shipp_Smith.jpg
Were the men who used water hoses and German Shepherds to disperse non-violent crowds back in the 60's devils?
http://negroartist.com/civil%20rights%20imagery/images/Black%20civil%20rights%20demonstrator%20attacked%20by%20a%20dog%20in%20Birmingham,%20Alabama%201963_jpg.jpg

Are the black African men who savaged-ly prance around African countries promoting and initiating genocide devils?
I believe humans have attached a definition to a devil/satan, and humans have consciously and subconsciously acted accordingly.
So, a Satan/Devil does not exist. Devilish people do.

Who did they think was flying over on Air Force One: Shanaynay and Pookie?

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/?q=articles/news/moving_america_news/8195/1

"He talked nuclear threats with Russia's president and gave an iPod to the queen. And that was only the beginning. It was an eventful first day on the world stage for President Barack Obama, launching new arms control talks, placing China ties on fresh footing and calming fears about the ailing U.S. economy - seemingly everywhere, relaxed and smiling all the while. While wife Michelle attracted breathless attention with every stop, fashionable outfit and sip of tea."
Dang 'Blacks' know how to act! We learned from da best:

Your answer please.
We all ain't no Ni**as!
I can't stop laughing!
They look content to me. Perhaps, this photo was taken prior to Queen Elizabeth touching Michelle Obama and the First Lady responding in a similar affectionate gesture (http://news.aol.com/article/michelle-obama-touches-queen/410276).

Note the sequence of occurrences:

*Queen Elizabeth placed her arm around the First Lady’s waist FIRST.
*The First Lady then extended her arm and placed it in the upper mid-back area of Queen
Elizabeth.

After typing the above I began to really realize how ridiculously trivial this has been for the past 24 hours.

I do consider myself a news junkie which is probably the reason the media never ceases to amaze me. The world is in financial crisis because of blond head blue-eyed white people (Financial crisis caused by "people with blue eyes": Brazilian ...) - and I cannot avoid the onslaught of “protocol was broken” breaking news infiltrations. Seriously? I ask you, do you give a damn if Michelle touched an uptight frail old white lady? I can care less that she trampled a British etiquette. Etiquette that’s viewed by many around the world as pompously arrogant anyway! And, how much sense does it make when the Queen initiated the intimacy and when she shakes the hands of countless men and women who may just fail to wash their nasty fingers after taking a wiz or dump? We all know some folk are disgustingly gross. Especially, ______ people.

I will NOT fill in that blank. You do it! Just remember what momma MAY have told you while growing up. Recall your experiences at work or in college (depending on where you went to get ‘educated’). Think about the universal black belief concerning _______ people.

I just know there is one person reading who will call me a ________ (again) if he/she correctly fills in the blanks above.

Universal Black Beliefs about _____ People (I did not say that they are true):

*_____ people are nasty.
*_____ people allow dogs to sleep with them.
*_____ people do not wash off meat/chicken before cooking.
*_____ men have small ding-a-lings.
*_____ people smell like dogs when they get wet.
*_____ people are literally afraid of blacks.
*_____ women are ‘loose’.
*_____ women give the best head.
*_____ people are naïve.

I am so terrified! Please don't come.
Wow! Should we be afraid of God? I am not!
As I continue to keep up with a discussion entitled, Does Satan Exist?, on my Howard University social networking web page I wonder why many are fearful of publicly asking, Does God Exist? I know if I were to solely utilize my common sense I would answer that question like this:
No! Are you crazy? God? What is that? If I cannot see and/or touch this being, He/She must be some spirit thing humans have created to help them ‘deal’ with the unexplainable. A God, yeah right!
Here is my answer while in Sunday school 30 years ago:
“What you talking bout? You expect me to believe that, Deacon Johnson?”
Waiting on the LIGHTENING to strike me!
The first response is full of sarcasm – but I am trying to be sarcastic because deep down inside the only reason I believe that there is a God is because I fear the outcome if there is (I wanna be on the RIGHT side – Heaven sounds like a good place to go). I also refuse to acknowledge that the disgustingly flawed and dangerously complex humans are in control. No way!
The second response was an innocent kid’s thought process at the time. What caused me to abandon where I was at in my understanding then: Forced-fed Christianity.
I know there are those reading who are clicking off my blog right now. Afraid that I am Satan. Go ahead, click away. But, you know the only reason you believe is because of an unsubstantiated faith.
Two plus two equals four. That is fact!God plus Jesus plus Heaven equals belief based on Faith. That’s belief, not fact.
I believe in God because I am afraid not to. Such a PUNK.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva: His Truth is Accurate

Financial crisis caused by "people with blue eyes": Brazilian ...
To deny this means one is living in intellectual darkness. In clouds of misinformation.
To immediately question why people like President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva would say such a thing indicates that the questioner refuses to pin the tail on the donkey. The guilty.
As a result of greed, something the white man introduced to his 'mentees', the poor will have to suffer, not only in America, but worldwide. Even the Japanese are assigning blame in a Western direction. They are on the right track with their criticism.
This (international financial crisis) is the outcome of people with white skin behaving selfishly and with GREEDY intentions.
Too bad we all going to HELL because of the actions of the 'perfect human':

Not so perfect after all, huh?

The First to get Fired on Wall Street: Women?

Why can’t it just be that these women (featured in the video/article) got fired/laid-off because of recession ramifications? Is a discrimination conspiracy theory necessary? H*ll, everyone is feeling the pinch some way or another. What’s next, a bunch of black men from General Motors will get together and claim that they were fired because they are black? While both scenarios, the real one and the hypothetical, can happen perhaps we should not focus our energies on reasons that are unsubstantiated. Besides, if we really want to be honest/fair countless women have been hired to adhere to a gender minority quota anyway. This leaving me with the opinion that they may not have been qualified in the first place while competent men are left on the sidelines waiting to get picked up by a second rate company. It happens. And, this is not written to take anything anyway from corporate women. Believe me; I am familiar with the well-to-do and intelligently dynamic woman in power. However, most of you reading know incompetence when you see it. Actually, I have worked for a black man who was only sitting in the Chief’s seat because the company had to ‘diversify’ as an obligation to the federal government’s under utilized EEOC.

Women can do some jobs better than men. That’s a fact – but once women begin to lodge lawsuits based solely on hormonal emotion and illegitimate information they may just shoot themselves in the foot. Regulating the ultra white feminist movement to nothing but whining.

Also, considering the data within the second link, why didn’t these suing women civilly address the obvious male-female discrepancy before now? (Take a look at the chart).

Money will keep one from complaining…especially if the ‘discrimination’ is not hitting one’s pocket.

Inconsequently, based on my acquired understanding from countless women:

Females would rather work for a man.

Is that true, ladies?

Respect and the Pulpit, a Hidden Oxymoron

Are we, as a nation, so far gone down Secular Lane that we cannot even acknowledge when a pastor is flat out wrong? Are we so hesitant to hold our so-called Moral Leaders to task because we are afraid if we say something we will be pulled on the carpet for our own ‘unacceptable behavior’? Where are we morally if we cannot hold each other accountable?

These are a few of the questions that raced through my brain as I read about Pastor Jamal Bryant - and while church-going Believers (have to make the distinction between church-going Believers and general Believers considering the following information) and I discussed infidelity among ministers:

More Americans Say They Have No Religion

While Reverend Bryant’s situation is old news, I still take issue with church-going Believers making what I believe to be an excuse for behavior that ultimately destroys the morale of a church, disrespects God’s ‘written’ intentions, and convolutes the soul of those seeking a place on God’s roster as a pastor (that was me after seminary).

GIZELLE BRYANT VS. JAMAL H. BRYANT: Popular pastor and wife in divorce ...

The Excuse:

“He is Human”

Okay…and so am I. But, one thing distinguishes me and countless others from Bryant: I/we ain’t up in the People’s Sanctuary regurgitating that Written Word each and every Sunday; and occasionally on bible study night. Nonetheless, I am a human being. Full of flaws. Corrupt with temptation that attacks my flesh on the daily. I am broken; seeking grace, mercy, and forgiveness from my Maker. Right?

In my book, Exposing Christianity: My Way of Sharing an ... ,I have a chapter dedicated to Forgiveness. In this chapter I try to explain how we have used the Concept of Forgiveness to eliminate the Fear of Damnation. For example, if I knew without a doubt that I would burn in hell if I killed 10 innocent people (Alabama slayings - CNN.com) perhaps I would not go on a shooting rampage killing women and children. Perhaps, I would think twice about molesting a three year old.

My point:

When does the evil deed KEEP one on the path to Hell (if there is such a place)? When is Forgiveness not a multiple choice selection?

With what we have done to God’s Out (Forgiveness), all of us can freely live a life of complete wickedness, and STILL make it through the Pearly Gates. Jeffrey Dahmer is in heaven.

We are in a terribly dangerous place: church attendance among 20 to 40 year olds is significantly low (not that it is a necessity to go to church), spirituality is void, people are faithless, and a huge segment of the United States population is living a life in the profane moment while simultaneously expecting God to grant us a pass after we speak those often repeated words on a death bed:

‘Lord, forgive me of my sins. Wipe me clean. I believe in You and Your son; and I am ready for your Kingdom. Make a place for me.’

We are familiar with:

‘God please get me out of this one. I promise not to be here again.’

Regardless of what many of the bible-thumpers and Holy Ghost dancers believe, a significant number of churchgoers and non-churchgoers live their life believing that God will indiscriminately forgive. Thus, leaving them with the impression that it is NOT a righteous prerequisite to live an honorable life when this life is temporary and can be medicated with a dose of forgiveness. With this pervasive misunderstanding and/or blatant disrespect of God, maybe this is the reason humans have proven to be morally bankrupt?

So, I guess he is “The Man”? A comparison to David? He appears to have forgiven himself. Such arrogance! Please watch and listen:

She Thought she was Safe…I am sure

Over the past few years there have been countless news reports detailing violence inflicted upon Americans who decided to live and work overseas as Peace Corps volunteers. Of course, the decision to become a representative of the United States via the Peace Corps is not an easy decision.

Most of the time the applicants rarely think about the crime statistics of the perspective country of assignment. It is usually the last thought while swimming upstream in the application process. I know it was for me. ‘Safety? What is unsafe about Antigua? People go there all the time to vacate.’ Was my sentiment! And, I never had any reason to think differently. Even as I lived there. However, other volunteers did not have my experience: I was safe. No bodily harm. Nothing!

Not the case for Kate Puzey. This caring young lady fell victim to a random act of violence. Like numerous men and women who walk through villages and communities thousands of miles away from their home. I am sure Kate was not immune to the ruckus that human beings create. She is from Cumming, Georgia. Not far from the once and on the rise hot-bed of violence, Atlanta, Georgia. So, Kate had to be well-aware that safety is paramount. But possibly, like many PCV’s we rarely think ‘it’ can happen to us. Especially, not in a vibrant culturally-contained community. Again, not the case for Kate Puzey.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/18934576/detail.html?taf=atl

As her family prepares to continue life without her in the Great Red State and as the PC community in Benin, Africa mourn her death, I want to share a brief conversation I had with fellow returned Peace Corps volunteers. It may just help further the understanding of our experiences. They are not all the same, and no one should blanket the Peace Corps journey with untruths, misinformation, and words of unjustifiable discontent. Like several of the comments left on the WSBTV web page.

It is my hope that Peace Corps continues to be safety conscious and ever so vigilant. The PC bureaucrats are! I was one for 8.5 years. However, there has been criticism lately of Peace Corps’ safety approach. Some constructive and some unfair.

America’s best assets cannot continue to come home in body bags. These individuals leave home to be advocates of peace and love. They do not deserve for their resting place to be tagged:

Sexin’ In the Church

Unlike the typical church, the church you about to read about has BALLS. BIG BALLS! They are actually talking about sex; and they are unashamed in their approach. This minister has incorporated a sex sermon series. And, has the bold audacity to put the name of his provocative sermons on billboards. Wow! Thankfully, someone is final moving away from the restrictive traditional teachings that have shackled the minds of Christians for years.

The church must begin to meet the worldly where they are: In the World that we have ruined!

50 Days of Success?...and Pork

Before I begin I want it to be known that I put forth a GIGANTIC effort to be fair when exerting my critical analysis energy. I share that disclaimer because when one utters a word of criticism of our President he/she may be subjected to a verbal beat down. The ass whipping usually comes from those who are incapable of assessing President Obama in a neutral position. However, I am not in this category. He will be under a microscope on this blog!

Let me begin by listing what I believe to be accomplishments from our President in his First 50 Days:

*Closed that God forsaken prison camp in Cuba.
*Began his brand of diplomacy in the Middle East. Actually, promoting a Palestinian state.
*Intends to revamp the educational system. He really has a plan!!!
*Has begun to explore ideas that may lead to a new health care system.
He continues to give speeches too. Some believe this is his way to continue a connection with the people. Okay...Nonetheless, have we ever considered that this is his best quality, which by the way, is a pacifier for some people? We all need something these days to tide us over. I am looking for a good sermon. Got one? Now, please allow me to be one of the few black men to point out that President Obama lied - I am not surprised, this is what politicians do...

How do you know he will do it again?

The Lord knows I have tried my best not to give the Chris Brown and Rihanna saga any attention. I actually told a friend that I would not write one sentence referencing the incident. Not sure exactly why I have been so stubbornly distance. But, I do know that the thought of a man beating a woman makes me extremely uncomfortable. Because of those tormenting feelings that surface, I have refused to watch the movie, What’s Love Got to Do with It again. Just can’t stomach the beat downs. Almost like my position on Pulp Fiction: Will NEVER watch it again either.

Nonetheless, I do have an opinion now that one of my heroines has spoken. Oprah informed the world that once a man hits a woman, “he will hit you again”. Really?

There’s no prayer that will help? No forgiveness that leads to a change? Therapy?

While I have never punched a woman, I have wrestled with one. We must have looked dumb ass hell too! I just wanted her out of my place before she decided to throw something else like the rotisserie chicken she slung across my living room. Chicken juice went flying! Grease stains all over my freshly painted walls. And, she even damaged my cherished framed pencil drawing of Bob Marley. She had to get the hell out then so I shook her a few times and forced her out of my condo. By the way, she got the best of me. Whipped my butt!

Seriously, I have a question:

Is Oprah right?

Here is what she said:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4XRSHIHitQ&feature=related

The Donald has spoken too:

"She better get the hell out... If she goes back, she's a loser and she doesn't deserve to have any future success.”

Black Love Revisited…

I am so in Love with The First Lady!

It appears CNN’s Jack Cafferty is too.

When I emailed this article accompanied with a picture of Mrs. Obama to a few of my friends I did not expect us to have a day long dialogue about Black Love. However, I am happy we had an opportunity to chat about something I believe has been highjacked by seen and unseen forces.

Many of us believe Black Love is separate from the general category of Love while others believe that Love should not be removed from the generality of Love. As one friend said, “Love is love. It is not black, white, or brown.” I, of course, disagree.

Rush Being Rush: Not Sure if I Don't Like Him

If someone asked me if I like Rush Limbaugh I would not be able to respond with the answer one may receive if the average into politics black man who knows of him would respond: Hell, no! Of course, I have asked myself why. The only reason I have to be ‘undecided’ on Rush is because he reminds me of plenty black men throughout history who are/were outspoken, defiant, and conservative. I am aware that Limbaugh will make some ‘questionable’ comments at times – but the same black men I am referring to have been known to say what they mean without any apologetic remorse. These men are radically truculent, and they have generated a massive following over the years. One of these men is the Honorable Louis Farrakhan (Beloved by me). While Rush and Louis come from two completely different backgrounds, I must admit that they incite identical feelings: Contempt. With the “repugnance” Rush breeds, he is also heard by over 20 million people every day. Now, that’s a lot of folk!

Does Limbaugh really want President Obama to fail or President Obama’s socialist agenda?

Monkey and Watermelon: Fried Chicken, Ribs, and Kool-Aid…Next?

I am trying my best not to laugh. These people are being quite creative with the jokes. Well, not with the monkeys. I recall a few morphed pictures of G.W.B and a monkey.

We have gone from a killed cartoon chimp to an Easter watermelon joke, and now to another monkey comparison. The latest was shared with customers of a Barnes and Nobles somewhere in the unchanged Melting Pot.

While I am not tearfully torn-up by either of these ridiculous stunts, I am somewhat starting to have a little compassion for those who are experiencing emotional breakdowns. Not sure why – but my sensitivity for them has intensified because the racist jokes/depictions are striking a nerve, and in some cases opening up old wounds for them. That’s worthy of my ‘sympathy’…I guess??

Anyway, I will continue to focus on what I deem to be critically important. Such as using black history to combat racism and other foolishness directed at degrading Blackness:

Before you read the article below please keep in mind:

A black boy beat the shit out of a black girl at a McDonalds. Another black boy tried to help the black girl. The black boy doing the battering of the black female pulled out a Saturday Night Special and shot the black boy who was trying to protect the black queen in the chest. The wounded black boy still has the bullet lodged in his back, inches from his spine.

White House Watermelon Email from California Mayor Dean Grose Inspires Outrage

The mayor of Los Alamitos is coming under fire for an e-mail he sent out that depicts the White House lawn planted with watermelons, under the title "No Easter egg hunt this year."

Local businesswoman and city volunteer Keyanus Price, who is black, said Tuesday she received the e-mail from Mayor Dean Grose's personal account on Sunday and wants a public apology."

I have had plenty of my share of chicken and watermelon and all those kinds of jokes," Price told The Associated Press. "I honestly don't even understand where he was coming from, sending this to me. As a black person receiving something like this from the city-freakin'-mayor - come on."

The Orange County Register first reported the e-mail on its Web site Tuesday night.

Grose confirmed to the AP that he sent the e-mail to Price and said he didn't mean to offend her. He said he was unaware of the racial stereotype that black people like watermelons.

He said he and Price are friends and serve together on a community youth board.

"Bottom line is, we laugh at things and I didn't see this in the same light that she did," Grose told the AP. "I'm sorry. It wasn't sent to offend her personally - or anyone - from the standpoint of the African-American race."

Grose, who became mayor in December, said he sent an apology e-mail to Price and her boss and also left her a voicemail apology.

Regardless, Price said it will be difficult for the two to work together.

Now I am like - wow, is this really how he feels?" Price said.

Los Alamitos is a 2¼-square-mile Orange County city of around 12,000 people. The mayor is elected by fellow members of the five-seat City Council.

A Damn Good Rant by Rick Santelli

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZB4taSEoA

Truthful rants have always been justifiable. Typically, they are RIGHT ON POINT. Nevertheless, what usually happens when an outspoken ranter speaks the overly liberal and/or conservative population of this complex country dismisses the rant and then demonizes the ranter who bravely spouts the truth.

Rick Santelli is right! However, as expected he has been accused of being an insensitive, uncaring, and arrogant asshole. Something that I find extremely interesting considering this self centered and selfish nation really has no interest in bailing ANYBODY out. Besides, Americans should be able to decide who they want to help and where their money goes to help.

No spending excursion disguised as a Stimulus Plan should dictate to the American people where their money should be allocated. As I typed that sentence I thought: 'Are we out of our minds? Our money is going to crap we did not sign-off on.' Wow!

I know one thing for sure; the type of people featured in the video (click below) will NOT be helped by the present administration. Nothing new...the poor especially poor black folks are ALWAYS forgotten. By the way, President Obama avoids legislation that could help people who look like his Kenyan ancestors so concerned white people need not worry.

Let me stop here. If I continue along these lines this will be a rant...

Soon and very soon we will see this country's government for what it truly is. And, that statement should not be taken as an insulting generalization because if we really 'see' this country for what it is, why haven't we rebelled?

Monkey Business should not be an Issue

I really am tired of black people getting so emotionally jacked-up when someone white does something to stir our hypersensitivity. Why get upset over this foolishness when we know that they (Obama haters) really do not like/love us anyway? Why sign a worthless petition to get an editor of a sensational newspaper fired? Why not get alarmed over what really matters e.g. black men killing black men.

Not that I want to make this commentary about black on black crime. However, I am of the belief that we (African Americans) need to ‘refocus’. Focus on an issue that has plagued our community for years:

Self-hatred

We need to channel our frustrations and anger this latest insult from a racist has caused to benefit us?
While I am disgusted by the cartoon animation, I decided years ago to intensify my efforts to help young black boys learn to love themselves instead of ranting and raving about what is believed to be a reflection of us: Monkeys.
Let's use this as an opportunity to look in the mirror:
Are we really doing enough to combat the self destructive element of self-hatred? What type of 'complaining disposition' are we in when our children refer to each other as nigger, bitch, ho, dog, and other crap? How can we be so upset over two cops shooting an ape when our children have learned to detest themselves from us (black adults)?
For every insult thrown at us, let's share a tidbit of black heritage with each other, with our children. Perhaps, this will begin and/or enhance the love we have/should have for BLACKNESS.

I will start:

The Montford Point Marines are often hailed as important figures in American history because they willingly fought to protect a nation that still did not offer them basic civil rights.
The Montford Point Marines were the first African-Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. The black Marines were segregated at Montford Point Camp to train between 1942-1949. The men served in all-black units, mostly in the Pacific Theater, and distinguished themselves while battling racism from within and enemies from without. In 1965, the Montford Point Marine Association, a military service group, was founded following a convention of former Montford Point Marines.
The integration of the American military was a long process that started in 1941 with an executive order by President Roosevelt that was intended to create fair employment practices in the United States Armed Forces. In 1942, Montford Point Camp was established so that African-American Marine recruits could train. 20,000 men trained at the camp, but the Montford Point Marines were not allowed into neighboring all-white camps without being accompanied by a white Marine. In 1949, President Truman signed another executive order to force full integration of the United States: in the same year, the first African-American woman, Annie Graham, enlisted in the Marines.
Today, African-Americans make up approximately 20% of the United States Armed Forces. The Montford Point Marines helped to integrate the armed forces and to encourage respect for African-American men and women in the armed forces.

Where ya at, Black Church?

During these tough financial times, I am wondering if the black church and its congregates are stepping up to help the black community like Jesus has summons them (the Christians and other Believers) to help the needed/downtrodden?

I only ask because several WHITE churches have contacted my agency asking us to assist them in planning and implementing ongoing ‘gaining employment’ seminars e.g. resume writing, interviewing skills, dress for success, job fairs, networking, you know all those elements associated with job readiness/preparation.

Also, is the black church offering 'feed the folk' nights? Basic FREE and HEALTHY meals to the financially strapped?

All the loot flowing through the black church via tithes, donations, and other money making offerings (schemes) there has to be at least 10 black mega churches across the nation coming to the people’s need during this horrible recession.

And, I can’t end without asking:

Or, is the black church still up to its madness:

Capitalizing off a crisis to cripple the minds (bring them to the alter to save a broken soul) of the insecure? Assuming that they are saving souls when souls CANNOT be repaired/healed while the handicap of no food, shelter, no health insurance, etc. is present?

Just wondering??????????????????????????????????

OBAMA the Poor Man’s Jesus?

Needing another Jesus certainly should not be a necessity. The Jesus we have been presented with definitely has not provided much of anything for America’s converted Negroes. Therefore, the idea of a 21st century Messiah of bi-racial decent should not even be considered and/or discussed.

He is a black man full of inspiration that motivates people to be better human beings. Nevertheless, President Obama may just be destined for failure if he is depending on the masses to pick up The Cross and follow him. Just like Jesus, his success is unfortunately tied to God’s worldly and unworthy children. The continued rebuking of Christ should not and cannot be replaced with a second installation of God’s failed Son.

Inconsequently, we need to hold President Obama’s feet to the fire. Like the Romans were leery of Jesus we should be critical of his intentions and his policy formation despite his angelic persona.

There is my answer.

On the Eve of Lincoln's Birthday

If there was such an event called White History Month, I wonder if white people would make a big deal out of it. Would it be something that they look forward to or would it be a celebratory four weeks that they could really do without? Who would be their most honored and revered icons? We (black folk) know ours without even thinking. Martin, Thurgood, and Harriet. The same ‘safe’, but critical for the movement, figures are prefaced in church, some schools, and over our media airwaves each and every February. Ironically, Angela Davis and/or Assata Shakur are not discussed!

I guess white people could list presidents. Abraham Lincoln would be one that I am certain would continuously surface. President Obama has listed this slavery proponent as one of his “heroes and respected men”. A man who was FORCED to do the RIGHT thing? “My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it." Let’s keep that quote and the other atrocious detail (inability to free slaves because it was the humane thing to do) about Lincoln in mind as we witness good ole Abe praised and placed on a pedestal during this Bicentennial year.

This February 2009 I have decided to do what some black and white folk do when they want to honor a historical figure: They take every measure to infuse the character of the iconic individual into their thoughts and actions. These people actually attempt to embody the personality traits of their heroes/heroines – but not only for a month. The people I am referring to have made the figure a part of them in word and deed. Perhaps, this is why the overseer (Abraham Lincoln) of numerous hangings is cherished like today’s gold. Nonetheless, he at least did commit to one righteous act that we all are familiar with: Emancipating America’s Negroes. Just ask anyone, ‘What is President Lincoln’s legacy?’ You will get in response, ‘Uh. He freed the slaves.’ You best believe that my nine year old is not walking around with that incomplete response!

A legacy I have been interested in and willing to embody is Jack Johnson’s. Not the Hawaii born singer and surfer. The great Galveston born boxer of the early 1900’s was not only the first African American World Champion he was one of the few black men in 19th century Western History who defied and rebelled against the white establishment. Jack Johnson was so daring that he fornicated with and later married a white woman during those blatantly bold racist times. He was one of the few black men in history who was not ridiculed and/or castrated for mingling with America’s Lilly. But, this is not my justification for embracing the Galveston Giant.

Jack Johnson was unbelievably persistent. Just to have his opportunity to become the world champion he took pay cuts, was forced to fight unqualified fighters, and he ended up traveling all over the world following the then Canadian champion, Tommy Burns, demanding a chance for the belt. Unfortunately, Burns was initially unwilling to get in the ring with a “spook”. Eventually, Johnson was granted a fight for the title. The story ended, of course, with him obliterating Mr. Burns.

Persistence is the heartbeat of motivation. Without it all one has is the average run of the mill drive to achieve. Thus the reason champions are not average. Edwin Moses, Allen Johnson, and Renaldo Nehemiah were cut from the same cloth. That cloth that started with our first world champion, Jack Johnson. All four are worthy of my unapologetic adoration. Not Abraham Lincoln, or the likes of him e.g. George Washington, Ulysses Grant, James Polk, and other protectors of the Constitution and not humanity.

Come on Manny

http://www.dailycardinal.com/article/21986

"There seems to be little debate that when Ramirez’s career is over, he will be known as one of the greatest hitters not only of his time, but in the history of baseball."

What I remember about Pete Rose is his gambling exploits, not his accomplishments on the field - and what I remember about Barry Bonds is not that remarkable moment when I waited up well into the night to witness his historic hit. However, I do wish I could remember that night...only. It was a GREAT night!

While Ramirez has not been arrested/indicted, he should think about how he wants to be remembered. Right? Keeping a clean and untarnished legacy appears to be the furtherest thought from the minds of many athletes. I guess Manny will leave MLB as a greedy selfish Hispanic? He just might if he does not conform to what the organization expects from him: 'You do what we want, accept what we are willing to give, or leave.'

Has anyone told him that he is 37yrs old? He is approaching the 'has been' status.

How many of us talk about Michael Jordan now? It is Kobe this, Kobe that! Rightfully so, he is da mon!!
Perhaps, Manny Ramirez REALLY believes that he deserves more than the 25 million. Maybe he does.

The following could be the issue that he is forgetting:

He has been paid millions to hit a ball while countless men and women from his country, Dominican Republic, barely make $20 a day.

*Approximately 30% of Dominicans live below the poverty line despite a significantly high per capita income.

I just don't get it. Should I?... I am not a 9 time Silver Slugger.

Stimulus My Azz

Many have heard and/or read the word STIMULUS, and experienced some excitement. Some have positioned their middle finger up at the television or mumbled the words 'this government can kiss my azz' when the word was blurted. I have done the most derogatory and offensive of the three.

Why this government cannot learn from their mistakes blows my mind. Another stimulus? The last one did not work! Did we elect a bunch of IDIOTS? History has proven that not one ‘forced bump’ in the economy has ever worked! Can't we see that this is a way to get what the politicians want and desire, without REALLY helping the American people? I am puzzled by this. Leaving me with one question:

When will the American people understand that government is not on their side?

No good natured, well liked, well spoken, adored, messiah-like for some, genuine, caring President can escape/change what the United States government has set forth for the future of this country: Doom as a result of Chickens Coming Home to Roost.

For those of us who got excited over STIMULUS, look over a few of the benefits that will directly affect the life of the average American:

*Those who receive food stamps with a family of four will receive a small increase. Enough for another jar of peanut butter (hope it is not contaminated).
*Some of us who make $75K or less will receive a $12 to $13 increase in our checks.
*Some will receive a check in the mail. The data shows that the lucky people who received the last handout used it to pay bills and buy food. Not many went out on a spending spree.

Thanks, Democrats!

Let’s keep in mind that 4.78 million Americans claimed unemployment benefits last week.

To bad the first black president is in charge as this pathetic place collapses further and further. God bless da brotha!

Below is a write-up from some random but INTELLIGENT dude I came across on line. He has written every word I wanted to convey:

The proposed new $825 Billion Stimulus package will cost well over $1 Trillion if just 2 years of interest is added onto it. You see, the federal government does not have the money for the stimulus package, so the Federal Reserve will just print a couple of trillion dollars for them and the American taxpayers will pay it back with interest.

The President and Congressional leaders are calling the current proposed stimulus package "an investment in America's infrastructure" but that is simply not the truth. According to the Congressional Budget Office, only 3 percent, or just $30 billion of this entire package, is dedicated to road and highway spending. The stimulus package will, however, provide additional funding for 150 different federal programs, will create 32 new federal programs, will expand government employment and federal agency budgets, but it's still not clear if it will create any measurable number of new private sector jobs.

While the people of America cut back on their spending and struggle to make ends meet, congress' new stimulus package will insure that government agencies and selected special interest groups will get more money to spend. This proposed legislation provides enough spending to give every man, woman, and child in America $2,700, or over $6,000 to every individual taxpayer. What did the American taxpayer get for the $ Trillion dollar plus bailout of Wall Street Firms and the Banks? Absolutely Nothing! Unless you consider that the goal was to help some banks and Wall Street firms buy out other banks and Wall Street firms. To make matters worse, it was just reported that Wall Street execs gave themselves over $18 Billion in bonuses in 2008 as a reward for their failure, all with the taxpayers' bailout money.

The government should be giving stimulus money back to the people who actually gave it to the government in the first place: the American Taxpayers. After all it is the people's money, isn't it? It would certainly do more to stimulate the economy and create jobs for the Americans who are losing their jobs, than giving the taxpayers' money to Wall Street firms, international Banks and hundreds of politically connected special interest groups that are currently lined up at the federal trough ready to feed off of the American taxpayers once again. Under this new stimulus legislation, even illegal aliens, without social security numbers, will be able to qualify for the $500 per person tax credit checks. That will really help the American people.

It is perfectly clear that there's more pork in this bill than you would find at a mid-western slaughterhouse. This bill is not designed to create large numbers of private sector jobs or to stimulate the private sector economy of this great country. Rather, it is designed to fundamentally change how the American economic system will operate in the future, with an ever expanding and intrusive role for the new Politburo in the federal government.

Non-Believers are in the Melting Pot Too

"We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers."

http://news.aol.com/article/obamas-nonbeliever-nod-unsettles-some/316339

When those words rolled off President Obama’s lips I knew that the religious right would come a runnin’. Ready to defend their insecure brand of Christendom. Prepared to toss our new president to the den of hell. While I understand – but empathically do not agree, why they are so upset, I cannot empathize with their spiritual discomfort and feelings of disrespect.

The United States is a Christian nation. Let’s get that out the way. But, we are a nation that does not completely adhere to the important tenets of the faith such as doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. That’s blatantly obvious. What they, the Christians, would rather do is convince the spiritually destitute that Jesus walked on water. Silly!

The Golden Rule is present in most established religions throughout the world so we are by no means unique. What separates us from most of the world is that we arrogantly boast to other countries that we are the ultimate caretakers of God’s wishes and so called word while degrading the intrinsic values of Islam and other religions of PEACE. It is here, in this God forsaken place where the United States stands in the pit of hypocrisy. Nevertheless, no one should be surprised by my declaration. It is a truth that we have for centuries fought tirelessly to hide from the world through acts of kindness that are/were really efforts to socially, politically, and spiritually cripple other nations e.g. The Brutal Christianization of the Pacific Islands.

So, as the religious henchman (conservative African American pastors) who by the way supported George W. Bush in order to receive faith-based program dollars make every attempt to discredit Mr. Obama I ask, ‘Why in the world are you disturbed by the truth?’ "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers. Was the word ‘nonbeliever’ the impetus of your discontent? Yes, that’s what it was.

To be a nonbeliever is a mark of the beast in these accepting United States of America. If you do not believe you are not in the club. That club that gathers each and every Sunday morning during the MOST segregated hour in America. Imagine that. Segregation still prevalent…here. Even in God’s house. No way!

This is the America President Obama inherited. And, now he not only has to protect the United States from relentless terrorists he has to explain to fanatical Christian ministers who are just as dangerous as the 911 high-jackers that the inclusion of nonbelievers is necessary.

Jesus loved EVERYONE.

The Day I Will Never Forget

January 20, 2009 is a day that I will NEVER forget. How can I? The descendants of America’s forefathers had to literally bow down to what their forefathers considered to be the least of God’s creation: a Black Man. The species that has been coined spook, monkey, beast, and all sorts of derogatory labels. But, not today. It is/was Mr. President!

After 12 noon today President Obama was greeted by America’s service men and women with a salute, and in some settings the masses will NOW have to stand up when President Obama enters the room. Who would have ever thought a black man who is not a black athlete would ever garner such RESPECT. Unbelievable!

While I am not one to gloat, it felt great to be on the winning end of this one. To see former President Bush humbled when Barack Obama basically admonish the past eight year administration was a glorious moment. Not only did it hopefully begin to rectify the past transgressions of the United States, it set the tone for a New Day with the world’s population.
We BELIEVED! The black man’s ancestor’s BELIEVED. The moment is here! Let’s do something with this remarkable accomplishment for those who died so today could be!

Praise Him!

Promises, Promises, Promises

Listed below are ten promises/pledges that President Barack Obama made to the American people during the pander-filled campaign season. A season that has accumulated to the finality: Inauguration Day. The promises were made I am certain because our new president has the forethought to recognize that this nation is in trouble. On the brink of total collapse. If one cannot mentally conceptualize this he/she is living in the clouds or they are filthy rich; and no matter what happens he/she will be protected by their money and the prestige it brings.

I want to believe it is this complexity of problems (troubles) that encouraged Barack Obama to seek the office he now owns and according to him shares with the citizens of the United States. If he did answer that genuine internal call to lead the ‘Free World’, and not some ego driven politician desire I pray that he will be able to resist becoming the establishment. The Babylonian structure that one of my friends believes is a non-existing force which by all means is detested by the likes of myself e.g. Malcolm Militants.

The establishment is real. It has engulfed the best of humanity’s children. However, Barack Obama appears to be the truth that has the ability to set us all free if only we listen, look inward, and ultimately assist one of God’s greatest gifts to the world.

The gift is Barack Hussein Obama.

Like all gifts they are cherished and even disregarded after some time. Will President Obama remain a gift or will we the people do what we have repeatedly done particularly when times get difficult and do not go the way we want: Forget about the significance and PURPOSE of the gift? Not sure about you – but I plan to hang in there with the gift despite my political pessimism and anti-America disposition. Nonetheless, once that gift (Obama) loses its appeal because it has not lived up to its value (word) I will without hesitation repackage, throw away, or place it in a cabinet never to be considered again.

Don’t let us down, President Obama by becoming disenchanted by and a part of broken Washington. I am definitely aware that you are not a whodini, but you did say that you represent Change We Can Believe In. You are the best gift (hope) I have received in a long time.

The Promises:

1 - Ensure all children have health insurance coverage
2 - Reduce health care costs for the typical American family by up to $2500 per year
3 - Double the production of alternative energy
4 - Enact a spending program to strengthen the nation's infrastructure of bridges,
roads, and schools
5 - Cut federal income taxes for 95 percent of working families
6 - Withdraw most U.S. combat troops from Iraq within 16 months
7 - Increase U.S. military strength in Afghanistan by at least two brigades
8 - Lift restrictions on government funding of embryonic stem-cell research
9 - Close the U.S. prison for terrorist suspects at Guantanamo
10 - Make it easier for labor unions to organize

The AmBush

In my effort to be fair, and not to recklessly defend, I must say that the media has done President Bush a disservice. Yes, he has made some colossal mistakes (with the approval of congress). Primarily, with the use of the English language – but he is not a cold-blooded villain. Definitely, not the man that AOL, Yahoo, and other online resource outlets made him out to be Monday, January 12, 2009.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090112/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_news_conference

As I sat and watched the outgoing President during his final news conference I saw a man more humble than he was four yeas ago, I saw man tired/beaten, I saw a man trying to be funny, I saw a man confidently on the defense, and I saw a man trying to explain to the world his reasoning/decisions. For example, his decision to not request a landing of Air Force 1 as it flew over New Orleans after Katrina was legitimate and understandable. However, most of the media coverage did not print or air the stated reason.

What I did not see was an angry animal. Nonetheless, this is what those ‘dependable’ resources and a few liberal journalistic outlets portrayed. They were jumping for joy when they were able to secure and use a photo that caught President Bush looking mean/upset. It was ammunition for their mischaracterization onslaught.

This time they used set-up shoes (questions) to smack him in the face. While the questions were legitimate, I still found it hard to believe that some of America’s journalists are hell-bent on tripping-up the President in his final days. The Commander who was praised by millions, including the liberals, after some fanatical men crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The Chief who has put into place an intelligence community that has kept us out of terrorisms way since that horrific day. Even with this life saving accomplishment, they continue to find no justification to thank Mr. Bush. All they can do is search for failure – but ultimately what they fail to do is listen to his reason. His position. This done in another effort to further stain his presidency.

The contribution to the stain is connected to one decision. A decision that turned out to be a horrible mistake – but what was ultimately wanted by the American people: Retaliation. On thing that I learned as a union president was that in no circumstances whatsoever should I use my power as the leader of over 500 bargaining unit employees to retaliate in the direction of management even if the employees that I represented demanded it.

President Bush made a mistake: He listened to the emotional uproar of the people, and initiated a war that has cost us lives and money. But, like most leaders they lead with the people’s non-leader wants/opinions in mind. Nothing wrong with that. It just does not serve the masses well in the end.

We best believe that our incoming President will be crucified also at the completion of his term. With what he has to rectify as the result of American greed, he best prepare to give his farewell news conference in four years, and to deliver it behind a fiberglass barrier.

Gaza: New Year, Football, and God

Join me in PROTEST: I plan to position white tape over my mouth Friday the 9th of January. Displaying that the officials we, the people, elected are silent on the murderous reign in Gaza. The tape will have the following written on it:

Israel is DEAD WRONG, and the US Capitol is full of COWARDS.

What say you?

Commentary:

On January 5, 2009 I did what most Americans did: I pressed forward with my life on this first Monday of the New Year. I took advantage of a few end of the year sales before the new year got into full swing too. Can’t forget about that. And, of course I indulged in one of America’s favorite past times: Watched some football. While watching, several highlights got my attention – but what stood out the most was how much reverence a few of the players gave to God. If I did not see a player in the end zone looking up, arms extended, and mumbling – I heard a player say something along these lines while being interviewed because he was the star of the game: ‘First, allow me to give thanks to God. If not for him we would not be here and I would not have had such a great game.’

What does Gaza have to do with football, God, and the New Year? Evidently nothing!

The coverage of NFL playoffs and college bowl games must be the blockade that’s preventing us (Americans) from raising holy hell in defiance of Israel’s unrelenting murderous assault on the innocent citizens of Gaza, the Palestinians. Mostly women and children, by the way. What else could it be? We have been too sport-ly occupied with Colt McCoy and Donavon McNabb. I understand that…I suppose??? However, the cold-hearted Israeli leaders that the American government support must be aware that it is ‘win or go home time’. Our attention is not in the direction of CNN. What difference would it make anyway considering Israel’s military has restricted foreign press from entering Gaza? ESPN probably has more couch potato drive-bys these days anyway.

As these religiously misguided athletes (primarily black) give glory to God via a prayer or hand gesture after a touchdown rightfully desperate praying men, women, and children are dodging Israeli missiles. Missiles that military commanders claim are targeted for Hamas’ leader dwellings. I assume that schools are launching pads for Hama’s bombs. I doubt that! And, let’s just say that the schools are storage facilities for weapons, isn’t there another method to take other than blowing the arm off of a five year old child?

The audacity to think and believe that God is the guiding force behind a stiff arm into an area of the field that has Fiesta Bowl written in huge letters is not only ignorant – but foolish! Guess I should go get me some Tostitos? All the church theatrics on the football field while bombs kill pregnant women. Seems strange to me, but ‘life’ must go on in the Great Nation. I wonder if God is in the end zone or in a Gaza village? You tell me after Googling: Death toll in Gaza. He watching football.

I think I have made my point without ranting this time. Did I?

Before I try my best not to explode in a crying tizzy please help me with two questions:

Why is the United States government including Mr. Obama so slow to address this repeated crisis with persuasive authority?

Is the United States government and its notable leaders slow to speak out against Israel’s actions because Israel has strategically cocooned herself with ‘you have to side with us, we are The Jews’ verbal diarrhea (speak against the Jesus killers and be labeled anti Semitic)?

Not that it matters, I am just a struggling writer/author, Israel is out of line; and they need to be reprimanded with a heavy hand (sanctions) from the international community. But, the political beating must come from someone other than me and a couple thousand protesters. We are just a loud voice that has not been heard in years.

Another Year Coming to a Close: Are You Proud of You?

As this year comes to a close, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the historic nature of the past 365 days. We have a black president-elect! This alone is evidence that the United States is slowly but surely changing. We are a LONG way from what I would like to witness. Nonetheless, we are approaching significant change laced with specks of freedom in this corrupt country - but only IF we face the truth; and deal with it.

No president, governor, and/or city councilman can help us with the personal change we all may need to embrace. What we should do is prepare ourselves for the next minute, the next hour, and the next day while keeping in mind that as years quickly past we are called to EVOLVE, and not remain the same.

Let's start thinking about our self-evolution (that's if you are willing to 'move to the next phase') by thoughtfully recapping:

What have you done this year that makes you proud to be you?

If we live 2009 with this question in our frontal lobe we may just be able to list a few more 'proud accomplishments' on December 31, 2009.

I am going to work on this next year because I want my list to be long.

Let's check back in with each other on the last 31st day of 2009.

Until then,

Peace and Love.

Jena 6 Teen, Mychal Bell, is TROUBLED

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081230/ap_on_re_us/jena_six;_ylt=Ai4Vo...

I think we may have forgotten about the affects something so high profile could have on a teenager. So many of us got so caught up in being a part of history instead of really addressing the REAL issue: Mychal Bell is a troubled young man. But, how could we have helped him from afar? Family should have stepped up. Apparently, they did not i.e. foster home??

This is yet another reminder that WE need to do better. We must...if not we will continue to perish. Something has to give. We have yet to ARRIVE the way we should.

I am SO TIRED of having to say the same damn thing when it comes to black men, the black family.

But, here is a story that should touch your heart in a positive way.

Trump is 'Right'

I am definitely not a Trump fan - but he is onto something that many of us haphazardly believe is true. We just too damn afraid to put some of the blame on Mr. Divine. Yes, I know we (humans) are responsible for America's current predicament e.g. economy in peril. Nonetheless, IF He is in control He did ALLOW this mess to occur which means He is partially directly/indirectly responsible for honest men and women not being able to feed their kids tonight. Yes, we can preface Freewill. Nonetheless, if God intervenes in the matters of men/women as a result of prayer, why can’t He provide some financial relief for the most needed? I am just saying...
