The Obvious in Scripture

Secret Service Investigates Billboard Calling for Prayer for Obama’s Death

Upon reading the article’s title I had one thought: ‘Here is another opportunity taken to insult, disrespect, and demean President Obama.’ A couple of weeks ago it was the same thought after reading a commentary that insulted, disrespected, and demeaned The First lady, Michelle Obama.

After asking myself, why am I am getting so upset over an image of President Obama praying above a bible verse, Psalms 109:8, I began to think - and not respond with emotion fueling my intellect. Besides, the verse is not new to me. Actually, the Book of Psalms is legitimate within the context of my theology.

“May his days be few; may another take his office!”

This is the verse under contention, and speculation. Why…?

Well, as the article indicates the bible verse issues harm –political harm- to be done to the leader of that day and time. The operative word is political, and the shared resonation should be on “of that day and time”.

David sings with such passion. The passion continues after verse 8 – but in typical pious custom the verse is evaluated in its singular construction. Nothing –not one verse- is taken into consideration prior or post Psalms 109. 8.

The focus is on,

“May his days be few; may another take his office!”

Effective assessment of biblical scripture rarely occurs. Ministers and preachers need for it to be that way. They have to use it as one-liners and punch-lines to capture and maintain the shallow mind’s attention and unyielding devotion. Thus the reason, irresponsible biblical re-wording and paraphrasing are two constants projected each and every Sunday Morning – and during Wednesday Night Bible Study. But, be mindful that the majority of the sheep prefer the Slicing of Scripture. The slaying of ‘The Word’ is a necessary when what comes before and after the highlighted bible verse (Psalms 109:8) unleashes a clearer or comprehensive understanding.

I challenge you to read Psalms 109:1-112. You should ascertain why David wanted the king’s children to be “fatherless”. You should discover why David wanted the king’s wife to be a widow. Your study should help you conclude the obvious: by using Psalms 109:8 alone –without any scripture before or after it- is simply calling for the king’s days in office –as the Ruler- to be limited…void of the king’s lengthy participation as the Overseer of the kingdom. If you come up with anything more than that, you have injected hasty assumption which is relatively easy to do considering the preposterous contradictions the Holy Bible spews.

It is not until verse 9, “May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow!” that the obvious is confirmed…David in fact eloquently wishes for the king to die…in song.

Remember, verse 8 is the only verse noted in bold font on the billboard.

So, upon reading Psalms 109:8 I should have concluded The Obvious: David was singing with all of his heart for the king of that day to be removed from his leadership role (office).

You will also discover by reading verses 16, 17, and 18 that the personal portrayal given is not the character of President Obama…so the man who came up with the billboard is biblically clueless; simply someone who is using his ability to be recklessly free with his speech. I don’t completely condemn him…he is likely a sheepish victim of another Misleading Man of God

Expecting Nothing with Being Flynn

I have become what I am not. Life does that to people when their life becomes opposite of what was supposed to be.

All the plans...all the hopes and dreams are diminished when one gives up. When life evolves in a vacuum. We are viciously sucked in. Trapped we become; not knowing what the future will bring.

It is the unknown that becomes front and center. That moment is our reflection. We see ourselves for what we are...Human we are. We are Vessels of Attachment. Insecurity and weakness are predominant characteristics of our identification.

Then as we enter the maturation of never returning, we wake-up - not anew but numb. We see the complexity of what we have created and accepted. We are labels...descriptions needing prescriptions while knowing full well that we have become what the world needs...Broken Men and Women Leading Destructive Lives. Therefore, passing on the shattered pieces of infection. Infecting all those around us.

We are contagions seeking medication for spiritual cleansing. We are faithfully filthy...covered in what we are not: Faithful.

The spirit of man/woman is littered...plagued by frantic fear and anxious uneasiness. We are unsettled with our wants and desires. We are in need of a fix that has proven time after time to be temporary. We prefer it this way because our sophistication wants drama. The erudition breeds negativity that can be tamed - but yet again we are what we are...Human…Who-man. The who is what we see in vice reflection. Vices should be used to see ourselves, not utilized to glamorize personality.

We see and be the flesh, and not the souls that long for worthwhile attention and nurturing validation. On the contrary, we fake through life asking not only ourselves - but others: Am I good enough?

We are desperate for the social confirmation...we beg our hearts to change ourselves, never realizing that we are what we are because of choice incorporation and secular conditioning.

In the end –and only in the final days- we look back over life hoping and even praying to be Worthy.

What is your worth?

Worth is what makes us smile. So, go ahead – and smile. See yourself as what you were to become during your creation. You...we are there. We have become the fate that was built by expectation. Leaving us with the concluding question before our Ending Exhale: Are we Human or Who-man? Who-man is the question we should not ask. Asking, Who-man? -  demonstrates that we have questions about what and who we are...don’t be uncertain…

Who are you?

Live on…! Be what you are not. Because when the trumpet sounds that one last time, you will be left with one choice: Shall I live or continue to be dead?

If you choose to live be prepared for one huge storm. If you select to be deceased expect...nothing!

I expect...Nothing.

Gay Marriage or a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich...? I gotta go with Da Sam-witch

If Dan Cathy, a CHRISTIAN, believes that marriage is between a man and a woman...SO WHAT. Again, he is a Christian. According to the Christian faith he is right. All this uproar and threats of boycotting Chick-Fil-A is ridiculous and actually a waste of time. Why is there an emotionally zealous need for the gay community to FORCE others to accept them and their preferences? I certainly understand gays wanting to be seen as a heterosexual couple under employment policies, health insurance, etc. But, when it comes to a Christian belief -an attempt to change that belief- is pointless. When it comes to religion the mind in most cases is solidified. A change is rare...it is religion! Hell, Christians believe Jesus walked on water! Christianity in this particular case is IMO on the side of what has been considered natural and normal all around the world: Marriage is for a Man and Woman. Christianity and other established religions have Human Reproduction on their side. To produce a life egg and sperm has to meet. What holds the egg? A female. What holds the sperm? A Male. Yes there are other ways to get egg and sperm to meet - but what is the most effective method? What male body part contains the sperm? What female body part maintains the eggs? Come on, people! It is that simple. If my gay friends are offended...please step back. Think about what I have shared. Don't get on your liberal horse, and avoid the facts. And, PLEASE try to understand that reality and facts are not meant to 'fit' into personal emotions. If they were, much of what we debate and possibly believe will not be separate from what makes the world go around...emotions do not make the world go around.

This is The Day of The Supervillain

Remember when Boyz in the Hood premiered? How about New Jack City? Back then the thought of some madman entering a theater, and shooting up the place was a 'foreign concept'. Perhaps, a scuffle...a few foolish interruptions. Not a massacre!

Today’s Reality…this is The Day, The New Day in America:

A movie about an American superhero opens, people have been waiting for months for the opening day, some people who can afford to pay $300 bucks for a ticket did, the hardcore enthusiast plan for a babysitter months in advance or they alter their evening with the little ones to ensure the children are knocked out while the movie plays...they are satisfied, happy for that 2 to 3 hour moment while they take-in an empowering and thrilling story that concludes with the good guy winning.

July 20, 2012, on This Day, we have a different story. Well, an altered ending.

Countless people did make the preparations that I prefaced above - but the ending...the conclusion was far from a feel good sensation! So, we are here left wondering 'why'. Why did Batman's enemy (James Holmes) decide to use his sadistic intelligence and evil intent to dampen our day, destroy the day of so many...? Why?

We don’t have an answer…

Today, is another reminder that The Day is not ours. We can eliminate our days with our decisions and we can enhance our days with our decisions. Ultimately, we are not in control...we are not safe.

James Holmes, The Joker is smiling. Doesn’t he always?

Endgame, AIDS in Black America

This documentary is extremely well done (link above).

I found myself connecting the dots - and piecing together the reasons for the astonishing rapid increase in positive HIV/AIDS contractions within the black community. The reasons are not new to the question, Why? – but listening, thinking, and then visualizing the puzzle helped me to conceptualize the damages that could have been prevented if only the African American community stopped pretending and eliminated the culture of silence that has caused so much harm within various aspects of The Black Existence.

All we had to do was sound the alarm, accept the reality- and then speak up!

A Big Mistake that blacks will pay for forever…

It is so unfortunate the black community continues to highjack -with ignorance and stupidity- the reality of this disease instead of embracing it with truth and resolve. The foolish denial, irresponsible stigma placed on the infected, and the deplorable black church response aided in the rise in infections. *Note, the black ministers comment during the scene that highlights the needle Exchange Program…He said, “You are doing what the church should be doing.” Also note the number of black churches in the area where the program functions. Sad…

Black people have so many issues that we hide while we continue to die. We should get over ourselves - and be DONE with our ridiculous self-induced barriers: religion...Christianity and false status.

Prediction:

Black Americans will perish while holding onto a failed faith - and while quoting biblical scripture.

Watch the documentary! And, pass it on! Ask your pastor to show it during Sunday morning service…if he/she says ‘no’ join another church that accepts reality and deplores the message of the silence!

Shackled Minds and Shackle Shoes

I am not offended at all.

The creator of this shoe is only tapping into the mentality that persists among many black people. It is a marketing tool...why not use it?

Black people are notorious for highlighting the negatives of our turbulent past and present: calling each other Ni**er, treating each other like a white slave master treated African slaves, use of the bible to demonize certain 'segments' of the black race/culture and the pervasive acceptance of whitewashed Christianity…
Without admitting it, millions of black people subconsciously believe that a white Jesus is their God.

So, why is it a problem when a person outside of our ethnic group markets a product that satisfies the continuation of black people's affinity towards self-destruction?

Additionally, black people have a dangerous infatuation with the power of the so called Establishment. For example, think about all the young black men that search high and low to purchase a vehicle that looks like a police car i.e. Crown Victoria…

Think about the countless number of black men who have the toughest pet i.e. pit bull terriers...

Black people love and long to have the white man's power and authority, resulting in the devaluation of black pride, black dignity, and black respect.

Combine the love of the negatives and a reckless love for a influence that's ultimately desired to falsely elevate damaged egos - and we will have the result that's in the mind of the man/woman who created a shoe with shackles...they are not the blame, and they should not ‘pull’ the shoe.

Black People -including Jesse Jackson- stop whining and be the opposite of what THEY believe we want and like...it is that simple! And, please don't accept that it cannot be done! Here is an example of the refusal to be Common…

It is not a surprise to me that this young lady is not an American. People of color from countries across the seas (Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea) -which are actually resting places for millions of Africans- have an internal tenacity to succeed! Black Americans in the collective are satisfied...content with mediocrity!

What type of people yearns and prays for what devalues them?

A Defeated People!

Parental Failure with Our Youth

I am not amazed by the number of people who are signifying, claiming, assuming, & saying that Creflo's daughter deserved a beat-down. This is the convenient and abusive mentality of men and women who have no other options within the Bag of Discipline.

Believe me; strong disciplinary tactics are necessary for rebellious teenagers. Teens are conflicted by being lost in a world that does not respect Youthfulness. The teen mind is in rebellion...more importantly their minds are NOT ready for the shameful classification of adulthood (18yrs of age) - thus the reason they act out and behave unleashed.

A beating did nothing for me. Nothing but caused a little physical discomfort. And, to be honest I am overwhelmingly resentful because of the ‘beatings’ I received.

I continued with teenage behavior. Why? Because that's what a teen does. Disrespect and dissing of authority is a part of the process. Choking, slapping, and throwing items with the intent to rectify behavior is STUPID. It is asinine - and ultimately ineffective.

One would think we (hell-bent on whipping the ass of a teenager parents) would know this. Whenever ANYONE, including your child, has the ability to move you to immature and destructive behavior YOU have lost. You have become an unproductive guardian. You have become what we typically do not like. Or, perhaps the Beaters enjoy behaving like an out of control teenager. Think about how ridiculous Mr. Dollar must have looked as he rolled around his marble floor with his daughter…Think about how FOOLISH we are for believing that a bible scripture means BEAT YOUR CHILD’s BEHIND…Proverbs 13-24. Then again, The Believers believe any damn thing that seeps from that ancient rhetorical device. I wonder how many of The Believers believe this one Lev.15: 19-24?

Considering corporal punishment and ass whippings have been staple responses within human culture, I ask:

Have the brutality (beatings) worked?

Check the incarceration stats, check the escalation in crime over the past two decades, and check the increasing percentage of mental illness and institutionalization...there is more!

This family matter episode is an opportunity to think about a more effective response. This is an opportunity reassess what we have been doing as parents.

Instead of siding with or PRAISING Creflo (he should have beat her ass), why not take a moment to critically think about our failure with our youth.

But, since Creflo Dollar did the beating it is okay. Passa is always right…
