Black Love Revisited…

I am so in Love with The First Lady!

It appears CNN’s Jack Cafferty is too.

http://www.progresspolitics.com/2009/03/04/jack-caffertys-crush-on-michelle-obama/

When I emailed this article accompanied with a picture of Mrs. Obama to a few of my friends I did not expect us to have a day long dialogue about Black Love. However, I am happy we had an opportunity to chat about something I believe has been highjacked by seen and unseen forces.

Many of us believe Black Love is separate from the general category of Love while others believe that Love should not be removed from the generality of Love. As one friend said, “Love is love. It is not black, white, or brown.” I, of course, disagree.

Tell me something new! Black women have been the object of many a man's affection since the beginning of time. Yes, EVEN the WHITE MAN! Field worker, Tobacco, and Cotton was not the only reasons the South fought soo hard to Keep Dixie "whistling". All that free, forced brown coochie was sure to be missed. Who could blame them. Good thing good old Abe signed those papers. Now Michelle can show what they REALLY was missing.

You took this one to a place I thought it would not go. I hear ya...I think your response was to highlight what our women had
to endure during slavery, and how far we have come as a people? Also, perhaps to remind us that the white man (not all)
is still...what, help me.

She is beautiful! I am in love.

In street language. This man admires this woman enough to point her style though he neglected to state that his main infatuation was laced in her skin color. He, like many of his ancestors, would love to know what it's like to literally screw this woman. His ancestors had those forced rights and liberties and could not dream of a "woman like her" being a position of power and having the audacity to show it in so many ways. He gets off on her just like many other white men.

Good article. I like her. She is all of the things that Hillary was as first lady and all of the things that she wasn't all wrapped into one. She has a great presence and a great mind. I admire their relationship because it is genuine love. That's hard to come by these days when marriage has become something people try or a business arrangement for families or wealthy people. I admire their PDA though I never really do it.

Laura Bush was not the worst first lady in the world. She was an educator and a good mom but she didn't appeal to all. Plus it didn't help that her hubby is in the bottom 40 on the presidential rankings in terms of effectiveness. But Michelle has it all. She is tall but not intimidating, elegant but edgy, intelligent but not geeky. The first family is a good thing for America as a nation and the world. At a time when people are struggling to make it divorce and marital issues seem to be on a rise. It helps to be able to look to the leadership of your country and see a loving devoted wife who is a woman of her own making running the White House as a mother, wife, and First Lady. It gives hope to me and my wife as we try to endure demanding careers and entrepreneurial dreams all while she is in grad school and pregnant with our first child. These guys did it and make it look so easy. Yes BP Michelle is quite a woman.

I am so pleased that our children can look toward the white house and see BLACK LOVE. I am thankful it is in the black this time around. Not that the sight of love has to be package in a color for me to appreciate it - but it is remarkably special to me that it is wrapped in BLACK. Also, just think about the relationship images purported about us (much to our own fault). It is negative. Sometimes I want to see a love story that has someone in it that looks like me. I want my kids to experience that too on this international scale. Nothing wrong with that, Larikus. President Obama's presidency is second to me on the scale of importance. What is first is this black love factor. If you think about it, on most accounts this is where we are falling short: LOVING EACH OTHER FIRST. Perhaps, there are some black couples out there wanting to make some changes so that they can be a reflection of the Obama's. Perhaps, there is a black girl/boy out there who see them, and say I want my marriage to be like that. Would this not be an additional positive for us as a people? Although, we are doing a lot better in so many areas - but we can still receive the positive examples. By the way, I am sick and tired of reading about Chris Brown and Rihanna: EVERYTHING A COUPLE SHOULD NOT BE. He beats her azz, she refuses to cooperate with the cops, they make up...
This is the type of crap I would rather not Judah sees in the news when we sit and watch over a slice of pizza!

I had a one of my managers ask me the other day "what is black love?" She said when she sees Obama and Michelle she sees love and that's just it. She asked me what is so extra special about black love that isn't special about love in general.

I had a tough time answering her. One of my coworkers tried to answer but she failed too. Truth be told I think all love is special. I can tell you that these two are no more in love than me and my wife but I do get a feeling in my chest when I see them because it's good to see love in the white house and its extra special that at least one of them is black and I can see the relevance to many that both are.

I do know that not everyone would feel the same if they weren't both black. That part is a bit disturbing but at the same time par for the course for some people. I loved the article and I think Michelle Obama is a more visible and outgoing first lady than we've had in the past. I wonder if she was a librarian like Laura Bush would people still give her the same attention. I like her because she is the combo/guard hehe in basketball terms. She can lead and she can follow. She is different than Hillary in the sense that she is extremely intelligent but she feels so much more real than Hillary.

I don't know much about all of the first lady's but she has Jackie O charisma and charm, toughness of Eleanor, leadership qualities of Abigail Adams and the intelligence of Hillary. She is capable of being anything and truly in a league of her own.

AMERICA should embrace and love Michelle as will the world.

Black Love is what many of our children have not seen on tv. Black Love is not in academic books. Black Love is what slavery wrecked. Black Love is what we need to see as a people on a daily basis considering we have been damaged by men who can be equated to devils. To do what the ancestors of the present day whites did is definitely devilish. No dispute on that!

Black Love is what we have lacked in some regards. It has been absent in the world's eye. Why can't we uplift this as our love, and not move it to the 'general category'. The Obama's, are for me and every other black person willing to acknowledge, a symbol of what WE may need to heal us. If we move it to that 'general category' it loses its value to me from a black perspective. I am black before I am man in the eyes of this world. I will not forget that. And, it does not completely mean that being black is some negative. No, it means that my blackness is my pride. My joy. We need to stop moving in the 'general direction'. We made that mistake with leaving our communities in favor of having the ability to eat with people who hate us. My people first...then this general category later.

LOL. Damn you looked deep into that. I don't suppose its worth pointing out that maybe he is just riding the Obama bandwagon and following the rest of the media. These articles are not few and far between.

Hell I want to know what its like to screw her too. Do you think that every white man that find a black woman attractive is infatuated with her skin color? I still don't get it but I guess its my youth and optimism that people can compliment each other without having some hidden agenda. She was the topic of conversation at a bar the other night and 9/10 said they'd give it to her. The sample was racially mixed with 2 Asians 4 white guys and 4 black guys. BTW what do people's ancestors have to do with their present day attractions?

I feel yA on your statement.....

Michelle Obama is truly a dynamic woman, even if I don’t know her personally!

However, what I have seen of her interactions with her husband SPEAKS volumes to her as a woman. She is that “Virtuous Woman” the bible speaks of. And, since divinely she knows and understands that her husband is her Lord, by the principals that God has set forth in a marriage (the Man being the Head of the Woman), and she being his help meet once they are joined together as ONE!

By Michelle understanding this fundamental element of a marriage by allowing her husband to be the Head of their Family unit, then in return he enables her to “HERSELF” Completely and Fully! This allows their union to display a beautiful and delightful balancing act to witness among two remarkable individua ls who have become ONE & ARE BLACK LIKE ME!

AS MR. JACK STATED, MICHELLE KNOWS WHO SHE IS & WHERE SHE CAME FROM AND HAS NEVER LOST SIGHT OF THESE KEY ASPECTS OF HER BEING. THUS, MAKING ANY ONE ATTRACTED TO SUCH A WOMAN!

The Obamas are indeed an excellent role model for the black family unit. A model UNTIED that little black boys and little black girls can EMULATE!!!

Because…. “THE FEAR(reverence) OF GOD & KNOWING YOURSELF IS THE BEGINNING OF ALL WISDOM.”

LS responds to Muata:

So in your eyes are you black, then a man? Logically that does not work. Renee Descarte said "Cogito Ergo Sum!" I think there for I am. But for something to be a being it must have substance like color , taste and so and so forth. One cannot be substance first.

Some people will see you as who they want to see you as. Others will see you as who you want them to see you as based on what their perception of the image you portray. I find it nothing wrong with embracing the love but are you saying that someone who is white cannot embrace with with the same feeling? If they have not seen it prevalent in their life at all then maybe this is the first time they see it.

Actually in America you don't see many couples that are happy like these two on TV. It's not like there is another example of this magnitude out there. I think it's good for the entire country not just for black people. I think it carries a special symbolism because of the position these two are in and the fact they they are black. I don't deny the significance to black people but I also cannot deny that as a country this is a good thing.

I will also say that some may need them as a symbol of healing but truth be told the problems some of us have won't be fixed by watching Obama and Michelle. I think it helps children alot but adults not so much. Grown people can't use the excuse that they never saw it growing up. At some point we are accountable for our own actions and struggles in relationships. For children, seeing them on TV is great but truth be told all that is a wash when their parents aren't there for them.

I want my kids to look to me as the symbol of what's right and good in love. Not the president of the US who's job is the be the commander and chief not the lone symbol of hope for our kids. If we as adults can't give our kids hope then clearly Obama and Michelle's great example is all for naught.
