Stimulus My Azz

Many have heard and/or read the word STIMULUS, and experienced some excitement. Some have positioned their middle finger up at the television or mumbled the words 'this government can kiss my azz' when the word was blurted. I have done the most derogatory and offensive of the three.

Why this government cannot learn from their mistakes blows my mind. Another stimulus? The last one did not work! Did we elect a bunch of IDIOTS? History has proven that not one ‘forced bump’ in the economy has ever worked! Can't we see that this is a way to get what the politicians want and desire, without REALLY helping the American people? I am puzzled by this. Leaving me with one question:

When will the American people understand that government is not on their side?

No good natured, well liked, well spoken, adored, messiah-like for some, genuine, caring President can escape/change what the United States government has set forth for the future of this country: Doom as a result of Chickens Coming Home to Roost.

For those of us who got excited over STIMULUS, look over a few of the benefits that will directly affect the life of the average American:

*Those who receive food stamps with a family of four will receive a small increase. Enough for another jar of peanut butter (hope it is not contaminated).
*Some of us who make $75K or less will receive a $12 to $13 increase in our checks.
*Some will receive a check in the mail. The data shows that the lucky people who received the last handout used it to pay bills and buy food. Not many went out on a spending spree.

Thanks, Democrats!

Let’s keep in mind that 4.78 million Americans claimed unemployment benefits last week.

To bad the first black president is in charge as this pathetic place collapses further and further. God bless da brotha!

Below is a write-up from some random but INTELLIGENT dude I came across on line. He has written every word I wanted to convey:

The proposed new $825 Billion Stimulus package will cost well over $1 Trillion if just 2 years of interest is added onto it. You see, the federal government does not have the money for the stimulus package, so the Federal Reserve will just print a couple of trillion dollars for them and the American taxpayers will pay it back with interest.

The President and Congressional leaders are calling the current proposed stimulus package "an investment in America's infrastructure" but that is simply not the truth. According to the Congressional Budget Office, only 3 percent, or just $30 billion of this entire package, is dedicated to road and highway spending. The stimulus package will, however, provide additional funding for 150 different federal programs, will create 32 new federal programs, will expand government employment and federal agency budgets, but it's still not clear if it will create any measurable number of new private sector jobs.

While the people of America cut back on their spending and struggle to make ends meet, congress' new stimulus package will insure that government agencies and selected special interest groups will get more money to spend. This proposed legislation provides enough spending to give every man, woman, and child in America $2,700, or over $6,000 to every individual taxpayer. What did the American taxpayer get for the $ Trillion dollar plus bailout of Wall Street Firms and the Banks? Absolutely Nothing! Unless you consider that the goal was to help some banks and Wall Street firms buy out other banks and Wall Street firms. To make matters worse, it was just reported that Wall Street execs gave themselves over $18 Billion in bonuses in 2008 as a reward for their failure, all with the taxpayers' bailout money.

The government should be giving stimulus money back to the people who actually gave it to the government in the first place: the American Taxpayers. After all it is the people's money, isn't it? It would certainly do more to stimulate the economy and create jobs for the Americans who are losing their jobs, than giving the taxpayers' money to Wall Street firms, international Banks and hundreds of politically connected special interest groups that are currently lined up at the federal trough ready to feed off of the American taxpayers once again. Under this new stimulus legislation, even illegal aliens, without social security numbers, will be able to qualify for the $500 per person tax credit checks. That will really help the American people.

It is perfectly clear that there's more pork in this bill than you would find at a mid-western slaughterhouse. This bill is not designed to create large numbers of private sector jobs or to stimulate the private sector economy of this great country. Rather, it is designed to fundamentally change how the American economic system will operate in the future, with an ever expanding and intrusive role for the new Politburo in the federal government.

I been saying this since they gave us the last one and I have been critisized by so many because of their lack of understanding of economics and the refusal to recognize the death of the dollar. The American Dollar has been on a decline since the 1970's and its quickly losing more. If they don't have the money they will just print more. They are gonna flood the world with American dollars thus causing hyperinflation like Japan in the 80's. They are still recovering. Simply put they if they were going to give money away they should have never loaned it out at all. They should have not given it to the badly run companies. All the CEO's should have been fired and received 3 months severance. That should have been the way it went down. Then the govt would have had to buy bad assetts from these companies thus taking them off their books.

As for the americna people. Our economy was never based on anything sustainable. It was an economy of excess. We had a surplus in 2000? That makes you happy? If we have a surplus but we have underfunded education programs and healthcare who gives a shit. Is the govt a private company or non profit. We should never have a surplus because every dime should be given either to the people or some program designed to help the people. The Bush tax cuts turned out to be a great idea in the long run. WOW

The American people need to wake up and accept responsibility for this mess and stop blaming the government. The govt need to take responsibility for mis managing the funds they gave buy allowing them to be distributed but not holding the companies accountable. It's all hot air and words and at the end of the day the upper middle class is paying for all the idiots that overbought and overspent and the idiots on wall street and on the Hill that waste money on bullsh*t.

Help me understand the fault of the average American. Those who just wanted a home. The ones who really did not do anything to add to this mess.

I see GREED as the issue and a people who fail to hold the leaders accountable. We will impeach a man for cursing, having sex with a woman - but will do nothing when these men/women cause the world to sink financially/economically.

I just don't understand us. We need to rebuke this government and toss them to the wolves.

LS responds to Muata:

Bear with me. It's simple. There are tons who bought a house that they couldn't afford and now they lost it. There are few of those people who lost it because they lost their jobs. The massive job loss is within the last 6 months. Those people who overspent are the people who might get bailed out and have their mortgages redone. They deserve to be renters for being so greedy. It's so typical left wing to blamethe govt. Its so typical of minorities to blame the government and its so typical American to blame the government. So it seems we expect them to stay out of our social issues besides Gay marriage, Manage our money, I mean when does it in. Change is always the result of struggle. Maybe a lil more struggle is needed. Thus far Obama has a C-from where I stand.

The government is to blame, LS. Who else? They are the stewards of our money. We elect them to lead, and not steal and mis-manage. We elect them to do what is right by the people. The finger is in the RIGHT direction. It is convienant for the government and some citizens to blame the people - but in the end the buck stops with the leaders. That's basic. You know this. Look at is from a sport team angle: If a coach has the right clientele he is responsible for organizing the clientele. He has to lead to be effective. The players take responsibility for doing what they have learned. Guess where the learning comes from: Leadership. Further, the Dallas Cowboy organization is in turmoil because of a cancer (TO) - but the leader (Jerry Jones) sits back and allows for the cancer to grow because he wants that profitable cancer for the money the cancer brings or capable of bringing. How about doing what is right for the team? Our politicians are not doing this. They are regurgitating the same shyt. That is not leadership. President Barack Obama is stuck with a vacuum that continues to pull up crap that cannot make it into the trash bag. He has done everything that I favored in his first days - but he behaved like the typical politician on this one. He was not a leader on this accord.

A WEEK in office and this is your assessment of our President and his plans? High Point University and whatever University LS graduated from has produced two of the most intelligent backseat drivers I have ever heard. I would like for you guys to put together your plan to help America out of this crisis and submit it to Congress for review.

Muata Responds to EJ:

It is not an assessment of him. I have always been anti-government in my approach and beliefs. My criticism is on government. All of them! When President Bush pushed for a stimulus I wrote the same thing. Go to the blog. Take a look at the plan. All of it, and when you finish please tell me where it will REALLY help the average American. Please. I looked and it is full of bull shyt. I am only critical of this decision. Perhaps, we all need to be critical so that we will not become sheep over and over again chanting, 'Yes, Stimulus'. I have heard countless black folk over the past few weeks rave about a stimulus check. They have no idea how that plan will affect their children down the road. More debt to pay off. Take a peak at how the plan supports and funds the killing of babies. I am no saint and I have done a lot of what I call wrong - but I don't care for my tax dollars to pay for some clueless black girls abortion. Your government has strategically lobbied for our babies to be killed first instead of funding appropriate sex education and parenting classes. Jack azzes!

Criticism that's constructive has led to positive gains. Actually, I recall President Obama challenging Americans to be critical.

Muata responds to EJ:

It starts with voicing a valid criticism. Then align oneself with like minded individuals. I did that with the guy who wrote the piece that you did not read. The next step is to organize. Then my plan is to inform President Obama. I did that by emailing the concern on his website. Now, I will offer an alternative solution. Part of it is to stop taxing people. Allow the people to have that money that comes out their check so that they can pay bills (first) and then spend as they please. Why not do this? Our tax dollars are only being spent on foolishness like whale studies anyway and for the salaries of incompetent leaders. Then how about plan an educational campaign to encourage Americans to buy American if the companies commit to making/building a good product. While doing this how about stop funding places like Israel with guilt money. Stop transfering war money from US occupied Iraq to Afghanistan. Then decrease on the imports. I have more - but you stop taking me seriously when you read the comments that caused you to get emotional about President Obama. Is he your preacher too?

What about the unemployed? Do you believe in trickle down economics?
Haven't the past 8 years of tax cuts proven that that does not work?

the plan is suppose to create jobs. but, the jobs are within government mostly. not sure if that will reach a lot of people. i was thinking that the plan should do something to stimulate employment in the private sector. it is not. i believe the money should be put into the people'hands, and not some government program or project. how about returning money to the people who invest their taxes into america? politicians have proven that they are not good stewards of our tax dollars. look at social security.

And the wealthy have not be good stewards of our economy. Which do you fear the least, he rich or the government? You want protections on
trade, that will cause our products/services to face similar
repercussions with our partners.

That sounds like a direct quote from the democrat debates over the past few years. No disrespect. Does anyone remember why we did the tax cuts in the first place? Bush ran on that premise that he would give tax cuts because of the govt surplus. Then he kept his word and did just that. Well the surplus was based on another bubble which was the .com and then it burst and the economy was on a downturn so he thought it was a good time to do so as he had promised. Turns out the dems who opposed it are gonna let it run its course til 2010 and are trying to follow a similar model. Here is the problem. If they aren't gonna make us pay more taxes but they are going to continue to loan more money to companies plus they are going to reduce taxes again and increase spending where the hell does the money come from? It comes by simply printing more money. Well in a perfect world that would be a great idea. In this world it means hyperinflation.

Have you noticed the price of gold is creeping up? It's over 900 per ounce again. Last summer it was there and the dollar was at its worst against the Euro and pound. The idea to create jobs is fundamentally great but unless we are going to do a NEW DEAL type of investment then we are in trouble. The dollar is devaluing very fast. It had gained some strength but it seems to be back on a decline.

The answers in this situation for the average person is to save save save. The problem with that is that if we save save save then we have to count on the fact companies will have horriblle sales and probably lay more off. It's a scary time.

3 things worry me.

The price of oil. It's very low right now. I think it's too low and does not solve our problems. We need it high so we are forced to quickly become less dependent on foreign oil. It should be over 100 a barrel. We use it faster than it can be created.

Secondly, the credit card crisis has yet to hit. Look at your APR. Most of them have risen or they will rise sooner or later. The government created a new law but it doesn't go into effect until 2010.

Lastly, I liked don't like the notion of giving people money to stimulate the economy. 500 per person doesn't do squat because ti goes to the banks or cc companies. No one is going to go out and just spend it in bars, restaurants and retail. This means that small business will hurt but Walmart will continue to thrive.

I don't think there are any easy solutions. In times like this the govt needs to spend spend spend but not give money to companies and individuals. I say only invest in infrastructure and give tax cuts to companies that create jobs related to the investment in our infrastructure. The average Joe blow is gonna save the money or pay it to capital one. That wont do diddly to the economy.

I wanted to make sure that we have more details. Below you will find a few of the 'where this stimulus money is going'. Nothing along the lines of job creation. I would rather pay for that instead of digital television conversion, art programs, global warming research, computerizing medical records, and carbon studies. As it stands, this economic stimulus has nothing that will help Americans in the near future. People need jobs and loot to buy food NOW. Government as usual. President Obama means well - but he has to appease others who may not have the people best interest in mind. That's a disgusting reality of Capitol Hill.

$36 billion to $40 billion to fund the rebuilding of crumbling roads and bridges, and provide funding for mass-transit systems.

$20 billion to rebuild schools and colleges by modernizing classrooms, labs, and libraries.

$61 billion to $64 billion to double energy production in the next three years. Weatherize low-income homes, modernize 75% of federal buildings and update the nation's electrical grid with a new, cost-efficient "smart" grid.

$20 billion to modernize medical records by computerizing them in the next five years.

$1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years

$2 billion for child-care subsidies

$50 to the National Endowment for the Arts

$400 million for global-warming research and another

$2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects

$650 million on top of the billions to pay for digital TV conversion coupons
